    Field Operations Director

    Summary of Role:  

    Pathfinder International is seeking an experienced Field Operations Director for the anticipated USAID-funded Accelerating ChoiCe, Equity, and Sustainability for Services (ACCESS) project. The purpose of this project is to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and related health outcomes among adolescents and youth and other underrepresented and underserved populations by advancing excellence, innovation, and best practices in service delivery.

    The Field Operations Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to all field operations including management of field buy-ins, ensuring the effective implementation of programs, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. This role involves leading a team of field operations, driving innovation, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Field Operations Management

    • Develops and executes strategic plans for field operations, and manages field buy-ins, aligning with project goals and priorities.
    • Collaborates with the Project Director in providing strategic direction to the project’s policies, procedures, and systems to improve the support to programs and subprojects.
    • Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of field activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
    • Cultivates and maintains strong partnerships with government entities, NGOs, and the private sector to enhance program impact and sustainability, maintaining priorities of localization and inclusion.
    • Provides guidance and support to Field Implementation team and other members to ensure effective project management and coordination.
    • Oversees the recruitment, training, and development of field operations staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
    • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and maximize resources.
    • Works closely with the Project Director and the Director of Finance & Administration in the overall development and implementation of annual work plans and budgets, with particular responsibility for work plans.
    • Leads the development and monitoring of budgets for field operations, ensuring financial sustainability and adherence to donor requirements.
    • Prepares and presents comprehensive reports on field operations activities, progress, and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Stays abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in field operations management, and integrates them into program strategies.
    • Carry out other duties as delegated by the Project Director.

    Required Education and Work Experience:

    • Master's degree in business administration, international development, public health, or a related field.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of senior management experience in international development, with a focus on field operations management.
    • Proven track record of leading successful field operations teams and implementing complex programs in diverse cultural contexts.
    • Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive organizational change and innovation.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies, budgeting, and financial management
    • Fluency in English (Verbal and written)
    • Experience working with international donors, particularly USAID-funded projects.

    Preferred Competence and Work Experience:

    • Experience working with INGOs.
    •  Experience working in a developing country.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Travel required (15% or less)
