    WHY JOIN THE TEAM

    • BBC News is the world’s most trusted source of independent journalism. As we expand our global presence and deepen engagement with regional audiences, we’re transforming how we operate. This is an exciting opportunity to join that journey. We’re looking for an HR Business Partner to support our teams across Africa—helping shape a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking workplace that reflects the BBC’s values and commitment to impartial, high-quality news.

    YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

    • Partner closely with regional leaders to shape and deliver a regional people strategy aligning  with the Africa region’s goals, driving performance, and building a strong connected culture that brings the ‘one BBC’ experience to life across all Africa locations.
    • Lead transformation and change initiatives across the region, guiding leaders through complex shifts, and helping to shape and embed behaviours that reflect the BBC values and support long term success.
    • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with unions and employee groups, championing inclusion and creating a culture where everyone feels they belong – enhancing engagement and strengthening the BBC’s reputation.
    • Provide strategic HR leadership across all BBC operations in Africa. Ensuring compliance with local laws and proactively managing legal and reputational risk in a dynamic environment.
    • Represent the Africa region in global HR initiatives, collaborating with UK based Centres of Excellence teams to ensure that Africa’s cultural needs and legal context are reflected in enterprise-wide people solutions.
    • Elevate leadership impact by delivering coaching and people initiatives that build capability, drive accountability, and support a high performance culture.

    YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast paced, change-oriented environment and brings the following essential criteria.

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • Extensive HR Leadership: Proven experience leading HR functions in unionised and multinational corporate environments across Africa.
    • Change Management Expertise: Skilled in workforce planning, talent management, and organisational design to support complex transformation initiatives.
    • Strategic Coaching & Engagement: Ability to coach senior leaders through cultural change while building leadership capability and driving employee engagement.
    • Stakeholder & Union Relations: Strong relationship-building skills with unions, employee groups, and senior stakeholders, using data to influence and resolve issues.
    • Analytical & Resilient Mindset: Comfortable navigating compliance, risk, and reputational challenges with a practical, data-informed approach to problem-solving.
