    Humanitarian Services Specialist

    Job Description

    • This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by helping members/others become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members/others prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus, furthering the mission of the Church.
    • The successful candidate will work with the Welfare and Self-Reliance Department; provide support to humanitarian programs with Welfare Services, facilitate training and consulting with ecclesiastical leaders, employees, volunteers to answer questions and identify resources outside the Welfare Department.
    • Reports to a Senior Humanitarian Services Specialist or Manager.


    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Under moderate supervision:

    • Assist in the preparation of Annual Humanitarian Plan outlining projected growth and activity in all phases of welfare and humanitarian services
    • Identify and build resources in the community, area and other agencies, governments and NGO’s to support Area humanitarian activities
    • Help in ensuring the humanitarian operations and projects comply with budgetary, personnel and safety policies
    • Provides research and program support and information and make presentations regarding humanitarian programs related issues as requested
    • Creates, reviews, edits, and correlates review of materials related to Welfare Programs
    • Recommends and coordinates assigned programs and projects through all phases of conception, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
    • Provides support and training to welfare missionaries in the Area
    • Additional assignments as may be assigned


    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must hold a current / valid temple recommend
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Master's degree preferred) in sales, marketing, or a related discipline
    • Five (5) to 8 years of relevant experience including success in working with middle and upper-level management
    • Specialized knowledge/skill related to humanitarian programs
    • Knowledge of laws, policies and guidelines related to humanitarian work is desirable
    • Must have a high level of analytical, creative, coordination and organizational skills
    • Must have the ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing
    • Strong personal work ethic
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a team member to achieve organizational and customer goals
    • Demonstrated ability to professionally make presentations
    • Must possess strong financial and business acumen
    • Must be proficient in the use of computers and associated packages and Microsoft Programs
    • Possess valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a passport if/when necessary (desirable)
