Purpose: To deliver high-quality instruction, engaging in innovative research, and contributing to the development of the medicine program.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

• Teach and asses courses in MBChB and post graduate programs;
•  Supervise postgraduate students;
• Initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
• Attend and actively participate in seminars, workshops and conference in relevant fields;
• Actively participate in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department;
• Attend and actively participate in departmental and School Board meetings and other activities;
• Conduct community service and initiate linkages;
• Any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements for appointment:-

• An MBChB degree and MMed in Orthopaedics/General Surgery, MSc. Human Anatomy or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized University. (A PhD will be an added advantage); The Master’s degree shall have an equivalent in Fellowship Training recognized by the Medical Council of Kenya.

OR

•  An MSc and PhD in Human Anatomy or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized University for non – medical doctors;
• At least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or in industry;
• Must be registered to the relevant professional body and have a current valid practising license (where applicable);
• Must have demonstrable proficiency in computer applications.

Job Specification: -

This is a University teaching/research position. Appointment is on Permanent and Pensionable terms.

Candidates interested in the position are expected to fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. In this regard, they must submit copies of the following: -

• Certificate of good conduct from Director, Criminal Investigations (DCI)
• Clearance certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
• Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
• Clearance from the Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)
• Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau.
