Monitor swimmers and trainees in the pool area to ensure safety at all times.
Respond promptly to emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid or CPR when necessary.
Enforce pool rules and maritime academy safety protocols to prevent accidents.
Assist in water-based training drills, including abandon ship and survival exercises.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pool, deck, and surrounding facilities.
Inspect and maintain lifesaving and pool equipment in good working condition.
Report any incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions promptly to supervisors.
Support instructors during maritime water safety and survival training sessions.
Ensure proper chemical balance and water quality with support from maintenance staff.
Provide excellent customer service and assist cadets with pool-related inquiries or needs
Requirements
Must Have
Minimum KCSE Certificate or Diploma in a relevant field.
STCW Certificate
Lifeguard Certification from a recognized body (e.g., Kenya Life Saving Federation, Red Cross Kenya,YMCA) — including training in water rescue and safety
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Proven swimming proficiency with a Certification from a recognized body
Basic training or experience in pool maintenance and hygiene
At least 2- 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard or in poolside supervision, pool cleaning, equipment handling.
Added advantage:
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat(PSRB)
