    Management Partner

    Management Partner Role: 

    • The MP will work with national leaders to improve their leadership and management capabilities necessary to achieve their objectives on high priority initiatives related to strengthening specific programs within a government agency.
    • As a Management Partner, you will be embedded within a team in the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
    • The MP will serve as a resource and thought partner for the government agency, while launching the Country Innovation Platform, focusing on strengthening leadership and management capabilities on a day-to-day basis with a focus on highest priorities and challenges.
    • Specific MP work related to the CIP entails a wide range of responsibilities, but sample deliverables include an analysis of and engagement with global health innovation stakeholders, hosting and facilitating workshops, launching a call for innovations and serving as the main point of contact for innovators, and documentation of these processes.
    • The MP will also seek to bolster the broader innovation ecosystem beyond the Country Innovation Platform, including encouraging opportunities to integrate innovations in Ministry of Health (MoH)/GHS programs at both the national and regional level.
    • The role will help to foster networks of innovators through engagement with key health stakeholders to develop insights into government priorities.
    • Other elements of the role will be determined in collaboration with the partner agency team, but will relate to improving the capacity and interest in sourcing and integrating innovations into existing initiatives and could include: strategic planning; prioritization; the use of data for decision-making; program design and work planning; financial modeling/investment cases; coalition building (including with the private sector); and guidance on governance and coordination across the MoH and GHS.
    • By strengthening the teams’ capabilities in these areas, you will support the team to improve performance, achieve their goals, and improve health outcomes.


    Qualifications:

    •  This role will require motivation, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, adaptability, patience, curiosity, a business-minded attitude, and lack of ego. Successful candidates will balance their proven business skills and results-driven approach with creativity, savvy, humility, and a commitment to building strong trust-based relationships with government counterparts.
    • MPs should have an entrepreneurial spirit as well as a passionate interest in – and commitment to – improving leadership & management capabilities towards the ultimate goal of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

     

    Candidates are expected to have the following experience and qualifications:

    • An experienced mid-career professional with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, preferably a combination of private sector and public service managerial experience
    • Experience in mentorship and/or coaching roles
    • Experience working in low-resource settings required; experience working outside of your home country desired; experience working/living in Africa required
    • Experience with capacity building, training, and/or skills transfer required; experience in change management preferred
    • Experience with building or supporting innovators, ideally related to health challenges;
    • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a multi-stakeholder environment with varying levels of authority including senior leaders required; additional experience within the public sector preferred.
    • Excellent analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches
    • A bachelor’s degree (required) or relevant advanced degree such as an MBA, Master of Public Policy, Master of International Relations, Master of Public Health (preferred)
    • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
    • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
    • Willingness and ability to live and work in Ghana for one year, with national and international travel up to 25% of the time
