Mechanic-Garment Machines at Eleven Degrees Consulting

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within the garment factory to ensure smooth production operations. The role requires quick response to electrical faults, preventive maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Duties/ Responsibilities

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance of all garment machines as per schedule.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on sewing, cutting, embroidery, and finishing machines.
• Replace worn-out machine parts and perform necessary adjustments to ensure smooth operation.
• Calibrate and test machines to ensure accuracy and quality stitching.

Installation & Setup

• Install new garment machines and ensure proper alignment and electrical/mechanical connection.
• Adjust machine settings based on fabric types, styles, and operations (e.g., overlock, flatlock, lockstitch, buttonhole, bar-tack, etc.).

Troubleshooting & Breakdown Management

• Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to minimize production loss.
• Maintain records of repairs, parts used, and machine service history.
• Recommend replacement or upgrading of obsolete machines.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all repairs and maintenance work follow safety procedures.
• Support compliance with WRAP and occupational health and safety standards.
• Report unsafe practices or equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Coordination & Support

• Work closely with line supervisors and production teams to ensure uninterrupted machine operation.
• Provide training and guidance to machine operators on basic care and handling.

Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required

• Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintaining garment sewing machines (industrial type).
• Knowledge of sewing machines, cutting machines, boilers, compressors, and ironing equipment is an added advantage
