Chogoria hospital was started by the Scottish missionaries back in 1922 with the help of Mr and Mrs. Irvine being in charge. Chogoria hospital is on a side-road which branches off Embu - Meru highway about 2km from the highway. Chogoria hospital was built in a serene environment around 200km north of Nairobi city. To ensure provision of quality, reliable and timely medical laboratoryservices in compliance with ISO15189:2022 standards, MOH guidelines and institutional policies.
Conduct the laboratory tests carefullyand accurately in accordance with the set standard operating procedures.
Ensure proper maintenance of all thelaboratory equipments and reports any problem experienced with a machine forassistance or for any repair required.
This position calls for co-operationwith other Laboratory staff and collaboration with other health care providers.
Evaluate specimens received bylaboratory and organize workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing andturnaround times of results.
Perform quality control, validation,and other quality activities to verify performance of assays.
Evaluate inventory of supplies andreagents and communicate order needs.
Maintain records of test results andarchives of data.
Maintain a safe, neat and clean workenvironment.
Archive and track specimens.
Perform proficiency testing to maintaincompliance with regulatory agencies.
Train new laboratory staff and interns.
Assist department in writing andmaintaining standard operating procedures in the laboratory and documentknowledge by reviewing and signing SOPs.
Performing the workstation monitoringtasks and fill their respective logs.
Follow established quality managementpolicies and good laboratory practice.
Perform and document corrective action,including follow-up monitoring to gauge the effectiveness of the correctiveaction.
Performs any other task related asassigned by the Supervisor.
Academic Qualifications:
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
Registration with Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board (KMLTTB).
A valid practicing license from KMLTTB.
At least 2 years post registration experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
Training and certification in Quality Management Modules such as ISO 15189:2022 implementation, uncertainty of measurement and method validation will be an added advantage.
