It boarders Nandi to the East, Kisumu County to the South, Siaya County to the West and KAKAMEGA County to the North. It is one of the four Counties in the former Western Province. Vihiga County has five Constituencies; Luanda, Emuhaya, Hamisi, Sabatia and Vihiga. The County’s population stands at 612,000.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will be to carry out duties in the mortuary which entail:
- Collecting and receiving bodies within the hospital and outside through the prescribed procedures;
- Recording bodies received;
- Washing the bodies, embalming, and refrigeration;
- Scrubbing and assisting in post mortems;
- Counselling the relatives and
- Releasing the bodies to the relatives as per the laid procedures.
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Possess a Certificate in mortuary science;
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a busv mortuar or a reputable Funeral Home:
- Attained a mean grade of D (Plain) at Kenva Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE);
- Training in embalming and grief counseling:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and
- Strong English and Swahili language skills.
