Senior Associate Credit Analyst(Nairobi and Nanyuki) at I&M Bank

PURPOSE:

The role will be responsible for providing support to Business Banking /Premium Banking /Personal Banking Relationship Managers and Branch Managers; in the preparation of quality credit proposals for both existing and New to Bank business by way of  analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data on customers. The proposal scope is of up to Kshs.500 Million and must be done in a timely manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyzing and preparing high quality credit appraisals/applications for new and existing customers within required timelines for review by the respective Relationship Officers or Relationship Managers.

• Researching on the customer (KYC) either based on existing information or in the case of a new customer, performing research.
• Understanding the facilities requested.
• Working out the required securities to be provided.
• Analyzing the customer’s financials.
• Giving an overall risk rating based on overall analysis.
• Giving justification for the facilities.
• Making amendments based on feedback received from Relationship Officer, Relationship Manager or Branch Manager and is done in accordance with the Bank’s principles on lending, and CBK guidelines.

Conducting market research on various industries and sectors for incorporation in the credit applications through conducting internet research or getting information from the Relationship Officer or Relationship Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in business studies; Management; Commerce (Finance, Accounting Option) or equivalent.
• Professional Qualification in financial analysis (ACCA, CPA or CFA), Banking (AKIB) will be an added advantage
• At least 2 years banking experience in a lending/credit risk appraisal environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong credit risk assessment and financial analysis skills; and
• Good planning and organization skills.
