    Collections Officer (Recoveries & Loan Performance)

    Job Brief

    Jafari Credit Ltd. is looking for a Collections officer to support the company's credit and collections processes.

    Job Summary

    The Collections Officer's responsibilities will include ensuring compliance of the credit processes through KYC processing, payroll bookings, ensuring customer performance by having strong relationship with payroll managers in institutions, following up on arrears using soft collections skills, ensuring the Fair Debt Collections Act is complied with when it comes to arrears and customer management. Performance will be tracked using none performing loan metrics, Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Debtors ageing schedules.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • To analyse loan applications to ensure KYC compliance, basic credit compliance (payslip ability & 1/3 rule for example)
    • To ensure booking of customer deductions as part of the credit appraisal process for both buyoffs and straight loans: i.e. to prepare deduction sheets and book loans with employer payroll.
    • To create and maintain string relationships with payroll managers within various employers and institutions
    • Maintain records of loan collections for various clients and collections status for the portfolio
    • Generation of monthly reports as part of the business review cycle 
    • Monitor all the active accounts disbursed monthly and ensure collection efficiency.
    • Upload all client deductions into their respective individual accounts.
    • Gather intelligence information in the field and professional networks and payroll staff to mitigate risk of fraud and inform management on issuance of good loans.
    • Gather market trends and intelligence on new trends and products in the market to ensure business  continuity.
    • Follow up payments from employers to ensure timely payments
    • Ensure all lending procedures comply with regulations
    • Develop, review, and update the company’s collection policy

    Minimum Requirements

    • Proven work experience as a Collections Manager, Collections Analyst or similar role
    • Hands-on experience with MS Office & Loan Management Systems
    • Solid understanding of lending procedures
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create and process financial spreadsheets
    • Negotiation skills
    • Academic Qualification in Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance or relevant field

    • Prepare and submit reports related to HR and office management.

    Training and Development:

    • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs.
    • Facilitate on-boarding sessions for new employees.
    • Implement initiatives to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

    Employee Welfare & Engagement:

    • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
    • Coordinate employee recognition programs and events.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
    • Holder of a Post graduate diploma in Human Resource.
    • Registered and certified member of Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid practicing certificate.
    •  Proven experience in HR and office management roles.
    • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
