    Associate- Research & Data

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    • A highly motivated and organized individual with a strong background in data analysis and research;
    • Have a proven track record of collecting, cleaning, and analysing complex data to produce meaningful insights;
    • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be responsible for working with a variety of stakeholders, including AMDA members, donors, and government officials;
    • Have excellent Project Management skills. The candidate should have strong organizational skills to manage multiple research projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.

    WHAT YOU WILL MAKE HAPPEN

    • Collect, clean, and analyze data on the minigrid sector in Africa. This includes gathering data from a variety of sources, such as government reports, industry surveys, and academic research. The Research Data Associate will also be responsible for cleaning and preparing the data for analysis;
    • Research minigrid-related topics. This could include topics such as the cost of minigrids, the impact of minigrids on economic development, and the challenges and opportunities facing the minigrid sector. The Research Data Associate will use their analytical skills to produce meaningful insights from the data;
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials that use data to tell the story of the minigrid sector. The Research Data Associate will be responsible for communicating their research findings to a variety of audiences, including AMDA members, donors, government officials, and the media. They will need to be able to communicate complex data clearly and concisely;
    • Work with AMDA members, donors, and government officials to share data and insights. The Research Data Associate will play a key role in building relationships with stakeholders and sharing AMDA's research findings. They will also be responsible for providing technical support to stakeholders on data-related issues;
    • Develop and maintain AMDA's data infrastructure. This includes developing and implementing data collection and management systems, as well as developing data visualization tools.

    WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE

    • Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, economics, or a related field;
    • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and research;
    • Experience with statistical software, such as R or Python;
    • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI;
    • Strong understanding of research methodology;
    • Ability to create actionable insights from raw data;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    WHAT WOULD GIVE YOU AN ADDED ADVANTAGE

    • Bi- or multi-lingual proficiency (French, Portuguese);
    • Basic knowledge in the renewable energy sector .

    Account & Administrative Associate

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assisting with both clerical and administrative work
    • Posting transactions in the accounting software
    • Filing all documents and maintaining sequential
    • Member Invoicing
    • Managing office petty cash
    • Filing and payment of statutory deductions.
    • Managing accounts payable and receivables.
    • Bank reconciliations and client/supplier accounts reconciliation.
    • Filing and payment Paye, SHIF, NSSF & Withholding Taxes.
    • Support with budget monitoring
    • Support with Grant management and reporting
    • Support with HR roles
    • Support with tracking of staff leaves
    • Support with ensuring organisational policies are maintained and followed accordingly.
    • Support with travel logistics
    • Support with maintenance of asset registers.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
    • Must have at least a minimum qualification of CPA II.
    • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in general accounting for not-for-profit or Association
    • Must have experience in accounts receivable, payables, reconciliation of member accounts, and bank Reconciliations.
    • Must have experience working in high-pressure environments under minimal supervision.
    • Must be proficient in QuickBooks, SAGE, ERP, and computer applications.
    • Must possess high integrity and team player
    • Must be teachable and ready to learn
    • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.

    Intern- Access to Capital

    The Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA) is seeking an Access to Capital Intern to support their organization in enhancing the capital raising capabilities of minigrid developers and facilitate dialogue with funders and investors to attract deeper pools of capital in the minigrid sector. The Access to Capital Intern role will be based in Nairobi.

    WHAT YOU WILL MAKE HAPPEN

    • Conduct market research to identify funding opportunities for minigrids
    • Support in identifying and establishing strong relationships with private minigrid investors, development partners, and financial institutions
    • Support in organizing finance workshops aimed at broadening members' knowledge and understanding of minigrid financing
    • Support in conducting data collection, analysis, and presentation
    • Assist in advocating for favorable economic and financial policies in the minigrid sector.
    • Support in drafting articles and position papers advocating for investment in the minigrid sector.

    WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE

    • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a business-related field
    • Strong data analytical, financial modeling, and market research skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
    • Proficiency with advanced Excel and other analysis software
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
    • Proficiency in French or Portuguese is an added advantage

    • Bi- or multi-lingual proficiency (French, Portuguese)
