    Head of Operations

    Achieve Business Performance

    • Be accountable for the aggregate plan and delivery of systems, operations, and services offered by Synkron International.
    • Leverage the advantages of bringing together the operational expertise and drive through more efficient ways of working.
    • Ensure strategic objectives shaped at Executive Management level are translated into tactical business plans with mechanisms for key measurements in place to monitor progress.
    • Ensure that business change projects are delivered in line with directions from Executive Management level.
    • Coordinate the efforts of the different operational areas under management to ensure minimal duplication of efforts, maximum efficiency and to maximize value for money.
    • Re-balance resources between different areas e.g. reallocating budgets, but within overall approved resources for the year.
    • Contribute to the development of business unit strategy for the next 2-3 years by providing a view on potential improvements for services and an assessment of the existing situation and anticipated changes in the external environment.
    • Manage departmental budgets including signing off of invoices and quotes within mandate. Escalate out of budgets items to the Managing Director for approval.
    • Sign off capital expenditure within budget. This includes approving purchase or sell decisions for desktop computers, laptops, departmental equipment etc.
    • Review performance against balanced scorecard components as prescribed by the CEO, discuss gaps and agree on action plans to close gaps.
    • Benchmark productivity of the department against industry standards and create measures to improve productivity.

    Driving Business Direction

    • To be an integral part and driver of the strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting of business requirements and decision-making process.
    • Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, government, suppliers, etc. to ensure correct focus and direction at operations and technology level.
    • Ensure an effective and efficient operating model is maintained.
    • Develop and facilitate planning across all departments on all operational matters
    • Serve on external committees where applicable
    • Ensure that risk is effectively addressed in all aspects of the business under the COO
    • Ensure that a proper infrastructure (building, systems and staff complement) is maintained and developed for Synkron International.
    • Accountable for planning and recruiting contract workers for the company.

    People Management/Leadership

    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and peers on Executive Management to ensure the correct focus
    • Provide clear directions on strategic goals, translating and prioritizing them into business and performance measures.
    • Lead, inspire and coach a team of high caliber professionals, creating succession to key roles and enhancing Synkron Internationals management capability.
    • Monitor the strict adherence to governance and setting high standards of professionalism across the functions
    • Ensure that managers create effective workforce plans and recruitment demands plans for their areas.
    • Review Performance Improvement reports to determine effectiveness of interventions.

    Requirements

    Academic Qualifications

    • University Degree preferably in Business Management or any related course
    • Knowledge of French is an added benefit

    Relevant Experience

    • Five (5) years relevant experience in an engineering firm
    • Three (3) years relevant experience in operations.

    Project Engineer

    Job Details

    • Engage with business stakeholders to understand user cases, define requirements, and perform business analysis
    • Apply project management discipline to develop plans, define scope, document requirements, and manage budget/schedule/resources for a complex group of projects
    • Use best practice project management techniques to achieve project goals on time with a high level of quality, while managing expectations of stakeholders
    • Work collaboratively with engineers towards achieving a clients set objectives and expectations
    • Drive the tracking and management of roadmaps, project schedules, risks/mitigation plans, deliverables and KPI’s
    • Communicate program status, program readiness, business and technical issues, risks and their resolution across Engineering, including senior management
    • Utilize your technical background to help drive resolution to complex technical issues across various teams
    • Strong experience with Agile project management methodologies
    • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
    • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle
    • Manages appropriate actions to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget. Can multi-task across multiple projects.
    • Records and documents delays, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations.
    • Pursues all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
    • Performs critical path analysis and prepares and implements work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects.
    • Conducts meetings, consolidates, and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s).
    • Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
    • Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion.
    • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
    • Liaises between project management and planning, project teams, and operations.
    • Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contracts.
    • Maintains project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
    • Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
    • Directs the work of employees assigned on projects in technical manufacturing and administrative areas.
    • Maintains the integrated master schedule for project(s).

    Requirements

    Academic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering fields.
    • Professional Certification (PMP)

    Relevant Experience

    • Four (4) years of progressively professional responsible experience in a related field.
    • Emphasis on experience as a mechanical engineer
