    Orthopedic Manual Therapist, Physiotherapy

    Responsibilities:

    • Treat patients with musculo-skeletal conditions as well as provide general physiotherapy services.
    • Teach patients and family about the condition, treatment, lifestyle, interventions, care and discharge plan.
    • Provide educational information regarding exercise programmes, risk factor modification and home programmes.
    • Ensure all patients documentation is done on time.
    • Evaluate and monitor documentation of patients notes in the file.
    • Ensure functionality of equipment by conducting regular monitoring/testing. 
    • Ensure proper maintenance of patient’s records.  
    • Enhance compliance with environment health and occupational safety.
    • Monitor and adhere to infection control guidelines.
    • Participate in planning and implementation of department goals.
    • Monitor set goals and objectives.
    • Participate in the implementation of quality control /staff development.
    • Conduct in-house CMEs to support staff/therapists, monitor and review their progress.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution/college.
    • Higher National Diploma in orthopaedic manual therapy (OMT) from a recognized institution.
    • Registration with the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya is mandatory.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ working experience as a physiotherapist.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and commendable customer service skills.
    • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)

    HVAC Technician, Engineering

    Regular Duties/ Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support for HVAC equipment throughout Aga khan University as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
    • Document all HVAC activities and test results according to department policy.
    • Promptly respond to HVAC equipment Breakdown Maintenance (BDMA) request from user Departments as per policy.
    • Timely complete and document HVAC equipment & systems Preventive Maintenance (PPM) as per policy.
    • Liaison with user Departments for HVAC equipment and systems maintenance activities and report to HVAC supervisor on issues arising.

    Periodic Duties/ Responsibilities:

    • Assist HVAC supervisor with requests for special projects, such as new equipment acquisition/upgrade purchase planning, development of bid specifications
    • Assist HVAC supervisor equipment/systems inventor and development of Preventative Maintenance schedules and guidelines.
    • Develop with HVAC supervisor equipment safety and device-specific in-service education to other technicians and equipment users as necessary.
    • Perform incident investigation and HVAC equipment performance analysis as required.
    • Develop or review with HVAC supervisor emergency and safety plans related to use and operation of HVAC equipment.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent qualifications.
    • Computer Literacy.
    • Sound technical knowledge on HVAC, centralized air conditioning and refrigeration systems functioning and maintenance (mechanical, electrical/ electronic).
    • Accurate interpretation of technical drawings & specifications.
    • A minimum of 3 Years working experience in a similar position.
    • Excellent communication with interpersonal skills.
    • High personal integrity.

    Medical Officer, Outreach Clinic Kiambu

    Responsibilities:

    • Review and examine patients consistently by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic laboratory and radiology studies in compliance with evidence based practice and established protocols.
    • Monitor acute and chronically ill patients’ progress on a regular basis.
    • Initiate discussions with patients and care givers to enable better diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services.

    Locum Clinical Nurse, Surgical Consulting Clinics

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepares consultation rooms, ensuring stocks, linen, basic equipment and stationery are available at all times
    • Performs basic assessment for all patients attending the clinic and designs care which is specific and appropriate to individual needs. Assessment includes measurement of vital signs, height, and weight
    • Confirms imaging and pathology reports and ensures these are present in CARE 2000 before patient is seen by the doctor
    • Prepares patient for physician examination and acts as chaperone where necessary
    • Maintains an orderly, efficient, and timely flow of patients
    • Assists the physician with clinic procedures where applicable and performs basic tests such as Glucose test and urinalysis

    • Observes infection control practices and maintains a clean and safe work environment for staff and patients
    • Maintains open communication with the patient and the multidisciplinary team in the clinics to ensure customer satisfaction
    • Participates in data collection and monitoring of clinic’s quality indicators
    • Is accountable for judicious and efficient use of resources i.e. accurate and timely billing of ward stock, drugs and consumables
    • Responsible for safe use of equipment through cleaning, storage, per shift checks of the inventory and timely reporting of non-functional equipment to the unit supervisor
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines for staff and patients, reporting any accidents, incidents, hazards or equipment defects in accordance with laid down policies
    • Participates in unit-based nursing education, quality improvement (QI) projects, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC), audits, spot checks and skill checks

    Requirements:

    • KRCHN /BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University
    • Current Licensure with the Nursing council of Kenya

    Locum Nurse, OR Recovery

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure complete pre-op assessment including the surgical checklist, nursing documentation and physician’s assessment
    • Receive the patient prior to surgery, gets report from the accompanying nurse and performs pre-op checklist.
    • Circulate and assist as needed for minor surgeries under supervision
    • Ensure effective recovery of stable patients post any form of anaesthesia.
    • Assists with intubation and extubation of patient in the Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and if required in the Operating Room (OR)
    • Communicate with anaesthetist and primary teams regarding patient issues and shifting plans.
    •  Promptly report both clinical and non-clinical unusual findings to the nurse manager or designee

    • Dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste safely in accordance with Aga Khan University Hospital guidelines on waste management
    • Administer medication safely, monitor patient responses to medication and promptly report adverse reactions
    • Care of equipment through cleaning, storage, per shift check of the inventory and timely reporting and follow up on non-functional equipment to the nurse manger designee.

    Requirements:

    • RN from a recognized school of nursing or university
    • Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya
