    Assistant Manager, Credit Collections

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, the role holder will be responsible for handling a specific portfolio of delinquent credit facilities, mainly but not exclusively in the Watch Category, within the Corporate, Retail, and SME segments of the Bank, with the objective of putting in place and adopting appropriate strategies within policy guidelines and regulations to minimize credit losses and ensure the portfolio remains profitable in line with SBM Bank business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities 

    Operational - 45%

    • Daily monitoring of the allocated portfolio of delinquent term loans, cards, and overdraft facilities to determine reasons for delinquency by application of sound credit judgment, collections strategy, and process within predetermined broad policy guidelines and regulation to minimize credit losses.
    • Work with branches to ensure all customers are contacted on default and collate all information received from the branches in relation to loans and overdraft performance.
    • Drive the usage of the Debt Management System at the branch level with relevant reports and escalations where there is non-compliance.
    • Using existing Collections reports and systems available from time to time, follow up with clients within your own portfolio to recover arrears.
    • Undertake timely collections actions through effective communication and negotiate with customers on their past due facilities while ensuring that subsequent actions on the facilities, if required, are not unduly delayed.
    • Quick identification and escalation of collections exceptions in one's own portfolio to the reporting line that require approval or consideration of alternative recovery actions. Ensure all collection actions taken are in the Debt Management System at all times.
    • Efficiently maintaining an accurate diary of collections actions undertaken on one's own portfolio with timely follow-up of due actions.
    • Ensure individual performance objectives and measures are agreed upon with the line manager.
    • Constant liaison with the business network to undertake appropriate measures on the allocated collections portfolio to offer alternative solutions for customers.

    Relationship Management - 20%

    • Respond to customer complaints and queries and escalate unresolved cases for collections management review and advice.
    • Application of world-class customer service standards at all times while handling customers issues, walk-in customers, and customer correspondences assigned on recovery related matters.

    People Management - 10%

    • From time to time as requested, oversee the team performance, initiate work plans, and attend Team leaders’ meetings.
    • Ensure leave is well managed in the team by ensuring there is a plan and providing succession leadership to the team.

    Compliance - 25%

    Senior Officer, Network Technologies

    Job Summary

    The primary purpose of the Network Administrator is to design and maintain the Networks and Computer Systems; support business users; install and configure computer systems; support business users; diagnose and solve network technologies faults.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install and configure Software and Hardware.
    • Responsible for managing, troubleshooting and proactively updating hardware and software assets to prevent downtime or zero-day exploits from occurring.
    • Quickly resolve any system failures and troubleshoots issues and outages.
    • Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
    • Ensure an uninterrupted internet connection and manages mail servers for sending and receiving emails and file servers for saving and managing data.
    • Oversee system performance and report generation.
    • Secure system integrity from any breaches or viruses and play an essential role in risk-mitigation planning, including creating backup plans, safeguards for data, user security policies, and identity management.
    • Develop and execute backup and recovery plan.

    • Perform network assessments and security audits
    • Planning and implementation of network security, including building firewalls, configuring IPsec VPN, applying cryptography, developing IT security policies, procedures and standards within the bank.
    • Evaluations of hardware, software and peripherals equipment for LAN/WAN/MAN environment for procurement.
    • Anticipate communication and network problems and implement preventative measures.
    • Analysing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance
    • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
    • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
    • To liaise with external suppliers and support agencies for the ongoing support and maintenance of relevant hardware and software. Ensure timely processing of the invoices.
    • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
    • Proof point administration. Storage administration & monitoring.
    • Monitor & report performance of replication services between DC and DR sites.
    • DR maintenance. Manage the configuration and operation of DC and DR servers.
    • Support system upgrades and apply fixes/patches related to infra unit.
    • Assist in delivering system solutions and implement projects to meet business, operation and compliance objectives.
    • Follow-up audit findings, propose remediation and ensure rectification or mitigation be carried out successfully.
    • Ensure that all policies and guidelines are implemented according to audit recommendations/requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with bank and regulatory requirements during implementation of various related services for the bank, and in case of any discrepancy report immediately to the Head of IT Applications.
    • Prepare and ensure that Risk Control Self-Assessment is conducted periodically for unit.

    Assistant Manager, Internal Audit

    Job Summary

    The job holder is responsible for providing independent assurance to the board on the adequacy of the bank’s risk management and controls. The role holder will carry out planning and execution of audit reviews in the Financial Cluster, which include but are not limited to Finance, Procurement, Treasury, General Ledger and Management Accounting, and AML Regulatory Reporting Processes.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Participate in the risk-based audit planning process that identifies processes that should be prioritized for review.
    • Prepare Audit Plans for individual projects and document the relevant planning memos
    • Plan assigned activities and ensure adherence to the internal audit processes Service Level Agreements to ensure timely completion of engagements
    • Apply a risk-based approach in the execution of the audit engagements and any assigned ad-hoc investigations
    • Prepare Comprehensive working papers to support the audit work performed and conclusions made

    Senior Officer, Retail Recoveries

    Job Summary

    The position will be responsible for managing the Bank’s Retail non-performing portfolio under the supervision of the Manager Retail Recoveries with the objective of putting in place and adopting appropriate strategies within policy guidelines and regulations to minimize credit losses and ensure the portfolio remains profitable in line with SBM Bank business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities 

    Strategy - 30%

    • Ensure continuous learning of new debt recovery techniques through training.
    • Ensure implementation of debt recovery strategies within the unit.
    • Ensure constant follow-up and monitoring of all assigned accounts classified as Non-Performing Loans/Accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with all controls, rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.

    Operations - 30%

    • Manage Retail debt collection including the initiation of recovery processes in line with commercial practices and Bank policy.
    • Manage the assigned Retail debt portfolio with a view of maximizing profitability for the Bank.
    • Review retail files assigned to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection in order to maintain a low percentage of Portfolio at Risk.
    • Maintain and prepare bad debt recovery records and/or reports as and when required and submit them to the Supervisor.
    • Recommend restructures, settlements and write-offs on Non-Performing Retail Accounts to the Manager Retail Recoveries for review and approval by the Management Credit Committee as per Central Bank of Kenya regulations.
    • Ensure compliance to the Bank’s Credit Policy and Procedures regarding management of debt recovery process.

    People Management - 20Maintain good coordination between the Collections and Recoveries Team, Credit Team and the Business Development Teams.

    • Undertake any delegated activities as assigned by the Manager Retail Recoveries, Senior Manager or by the Director, Debt Recovery and Special AssetsEnsure to undertake Best Practice, Skills and Knowledge shared across the Debt Recovery team and wider Credit Department.

    Compliance - 15%

    • Ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.
    • Working closely with risk and compliance units to ensure effective compliance standards are consistently met within the unit
    • Developing and continuously reviewing Credit policies and procedures ensuring their compliance.

    Other -5 %

    • Safeguard and promote the bank’s image with the general public.
