    Development Manager

    Basic job summary: 

    The primary responsibility is to plan and implement a comprehensive fundraising program towards the University’s fundraising needs. This responsibility includes to prospect, cultivate, solicit, and achieve individual, corporate, and institutional donations to different university programs guided by the University and the Foundation strategic goals. The Development manager works as part of a team with other staff in the Foundation and University to achieve the set individual and team targets

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Proposal Development - Project identification, prioritization, conceptualization, and development into a fundable proposal
    • Individual giving - Prospect, cultivate, solicit, and achieve individual gifts of significant size through personal and intensive relationship outreach.
    • Institutional giving - Execute the entire process of institutional giving by researching, identifying, cultivating, and completing philanthropic possibilities with companies, foundations, and other philanthropic institutions.
    • Planning & Coordination - Plan and coordinate donor visits and communication among university units through university activities, donor round tables, networking meetings and capacity building initiatives. Communication will be done in close liaison with communications unit and other relevant university offices. 
    • Corporate Development and External Relations - Assist the Director in promoting the University and enhance the brand affection amongst students, parents, organizations, and friends. Assist in formulation of fundraising and implementation of strategies of the foundation in consultation with other staff and external stakeholders.
    • Assisting Volunteer Fundraisers - Assist senior members of staff, Management Board and University Council member’s, Alumni etc. in their fundraising activities
    • Other tasks: Perform other duties assigned by the Director aligned to the objectives of the Foundation.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution
    • Master’s degree, management qualification, Marketing or sales qualification, public relations, Fund raising qualification/certification will be an added advantage

    Experience:

    • At least 2 years of fundraising experience and raised at least USD 1 Million in total
    • At least 3 years’ relevant working experience preferably in a fundraising and/or university alumni office or other educational or closely related sector.
    • Established contacts with high-net-wort individuals and or potential donor institutions

    Competencies and Attributes

    • Project management, research, writing and presentation skills.
    • Leadership, team manager, writing and communication skills.
    • High ethical standards and professionalism
    • Knowledge of motivations for giving and the fundraising process
    • Willingness and ability to work in the evening and at weekends when necessary.
    • Willingness to work outside the office and travel where necessary.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
    • Demonstrable Innovative capability in problem-solving complex scenarios
    • Knowledge of appropriate fundraising frameworks and technological solutions.

    Project Administrator

    Basic job summary:

    • The Project Administrator will play a pivotal role in advancing the initiatives under the UNESCO Chair for Climate Change Resilience and Sustainability, ensuring the seamless execution of projects that promote climate resilience and sustainability. This position involves overseeing project administration, coordinating stakeholders, and managing resources to enhance the impact and efficiency of climate-related research and initiatives.
    • This role requires a combination of strong organizational and administrative skills, financial management expertise, and the ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams. The Project Administrator will work closely with researchers, funding agencies, and institutional partners to streamline project operations, maintain compliance with donor and institutional policies, and support the effective dissemination of project outcomes.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Administrative Support

    • Office Management:
      • Schedule and coordinate meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
      • Manage correspondence, postage, and courier services for the department.
      • Maintain office inventory and ensure timely procurement of supplies.
    • Travel and Logistics Coordination:
      • Organize travel arrangements, including flights, accommodation, and local transport.
      • Ensure compliance with institutional travel policies and budgetary guidelines.
    • Event Planning and Coordination:
      • Plan and coordinate departmental events, including workshops, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
      • Oversee venue booking, material sourcing, and logistical arrangements.
      • Act as the primary liaison between the department and the Communications and University Relations Office to ensure alignment with institutional objectives.

    Communications and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Liaison Duties:
      • Serve as the Communications Liaison for the UNESCO Chair, ensuring timely and effective information flow.
      • Represent the department in monthly Communications Committee meetings.
      • Provide regular updates on ongoing projects, initiatives, and research activities.
    • Digital Presence and Content Management:
      • Collaborate with the team to develop and manage content for the UNESCO Chair website and social media platforms.
      • Oversee website maintenance, updates, and potential redesigns to enhance accessibility and engagement.
      • Ensure the development and dissemination of communication materials in line with institutional branding and communication policies.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in a business, management, administration, or communications related field

    Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
    • At least 3 years of experience in project administration, preferably in research, academia, or climate change-related projects.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of financial and grant management principles is an added advantage.
