To operate loader at Newmont to deliver material to the appropriate location (primary and oxide crusher, stockpile or waste dump) destination and conduct cleanup activities in a safe and controlled manner.
Essential Duties
- Load trucks to appropriate weights and dimensions following the CAT10/10/20 rule.
- Manage dig face for safe and efficient loading, including managing the dig face to a safe height.
- Conduct post-shift inspections regarding hazards and defects identified and communicate these to Dispatch / Supervisor and the incoming operators for the smooth running of Operations.
- Communicate with Truck Operators and Dispatchers to verify that materials are dumped at the correct locations, based on mark-out information.
- Utilize JIGSAW System to report loader equipment status (i.e. Down, Standby, Delay or Ready), select appropriate delay, and stand by codes.
- Perform daily housekeeping and safety checks of the loader equipment.
- Understand the loading activities that need to be completed and the designated location of loading activities.
- Report and escalate all accidents and incidents occurring in the shift immediately to the Dispatcher / Shift Supervisor.
- Load MAN Tipper Trucks.
- Attend all pre-shift instruction meetings.
Training & Experience
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations)
- Senior High School Certificate.
- Mineral Commission Operators License.
- Drivers’ License E.
- Knowledge and understanding of loader operation.
- General knowledge of loaders and other heavy equipment.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ loading operation experience in an open pit-mining environment.

Position is in a very remote location. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit in the cabin of heavy mining equipment tracking over uneven surfaces for extended periods, climb stairs, walk and stand.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the field environment is minimal. Occasional exposure to noise, fumes, high temperature, moving machinery, hazardous materials, sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces, extreme weather conditions.
- Protective Equipment (PPE): Work requires mandatory PPE such as helmet, goggles, high visible clothing, safety harness, earplugs and dust mask according to working conditions.

To conduct daily operation of drills, monitor associated consumables to drill in an in-situ rock mass or boulders and prepare them sufficiently for blasting, in a safe and controlled manner.
Essential Duties
- Utilize the pre-split drill (Cubex) and production drill (D45KS) to accomplish various drill activities
- Maneuver and position drill by using jigsaw system, site plans and layouts and set correct angles and depths.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and monitor conditions by verifying component functionality, fluid levels and fittings, as well as depth and alignment of collaring positions.
- Communicate with the Dispatcher and Supervisor regarding hazards encountered to provide sufficient information to the incoming Driller for the smooth running of Operations.
- Prepare and maintain daily drill report and log book to outline shift activities.
- Provide hands-on assistance during drilling activities to fellow colleagues to ensure that safe work practices always.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
- Attend daily pre start meetings.
- Perform other related activities, as assigned by the Drill Supervisor.
Training & Experience
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Senior High School Certificate
- MINCOM Equipment Competency.
- License E (drill).
Additional Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of drill tool mechanical systems.
- General understanding of mining operations.
- General understanding of equipment controls and electronics.
- General knowledge in mid-to-heavy equipment operation.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ drilling and off-siding experience in a large open pit or quarry environment.

To operate dozer to deliver daily maintenance of pit, dump and stockpile floors and roads, as well as managing the efficient operation of all dumping operations, in a safe and controlled manner.
Essential Duties
- Conduct pushing/ dozing activities such as:
- Clearing pit environment after blasting activities.
- Conducting clearing and stripping as required for mining activities.
- Perform clean-up activities and maintain road grades for shovels / excavators and loaders.
- Use dozer to perform cut and fill to design using GPS (dozer files) or field sticks / pegs.
- Manage waste dump and stockpile tip-ends including the safe, accurate spotting of haul trucks for dumping.
- Conduct post-shift inspections regarding hazards and defects identified and communicate these to Dispatch/ Supervisor and the incoming operators for the smooth running of Operations.
- Communicate with Loading Equipment Operators to verify the safety of clean-up activities inside the loading unit proximity.
- Inspect and operate dozer, in compliance with Newmont and manufacturer specifications.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
