    Branch Manager

    (REF: CCBI/BM/07/22)

    Our client, a Deposit Taking Sacco regulated by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) and based in Kirinyaga County is seeking to recruit a qualified and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Branch Manager.

    Overall Responsibility

    The Branch Manager will hold the overall responsibility for the branch in its operations, strategies, business growth and development, and management of employees and customers.

    Objectives:

    • Implementation of Branch strategies and plans
    • Safeguard members` funds and employ effective cost control measures
    • Effective mobilization of resources
    • Achievement of set performance targets
    • Promotion of a positive corporate image
    • Effective leadership
    • Effective cost control

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Implementing the Sacco’s policies at the branch level.
    2. Grow the branch in terms of Assets, savings, Deposits, Membership and Income to ensure profitability.
    3. Manage the branch loan book and Portfolio at Risk according to the Sacco credit policy.
    4. Ensuring that internal controls and processes are strictly followed. 
    5. Managing performance of the branch against plans, business results against targets and taking the necessary action on variances.
    6. Preparing all management reports as required. 
    7. Ensuring that the branch observes liquidity and cash ratios and that an adequate level of cash is maintained.
    8. Foster customer relations by ensuring effective and efficient customer service delivery and safeguarding the organization’s corporate image, monitor customer feedback and recommend necessary measures and initiatives aimed at maintaining and attracting new members and sustaining a good relationship with all stakeholders.
    9. Management of staff in areas of supervision, performance, training, coaching, health and safety, development, discipline and policy dissemination in accordance with Sacco policies and employment laws with the aim of bringing the best from employees.
    10. Developing management plans which include leaving rooster, training schedule, marketing plans member education for the branch.
    11. Security surveillance for employees, cash and the entire branch assets.
    12. Develop and implement a branch marketing plan for Sacco products and services.
    13. Manage all assets of the branch and ensure proper resource allocation to meet branch business requirements.
    14. Adherence to the budgetary provisions as per the set standards.
    15. Attain all audit and compliance requirements and develop risk mitigation strategies in accordance with established Sacco policies, service quality standards and code of conduct
    16. Build and maintain effective communication skills with branch staff.
    17. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course.
    • Membership in a professional body is desirable.
    • A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a financial institution (three years must be at supervisory or management level).
    • Sound knowledge of Banking and Sacco laws and regulations.
    • A person of integrity, a team player with effective communication skills.
    • Strategic thinker with good commercial judgment and the ability to identify economic opportunities in changing environments and capitalize on them.
    • Sound judgment and decision-making ability on lending across all sectors.
    • Conversant with current trends in consumer banking with a strong commercial orientation.
    • Customer-focused – striking a solid balance between external and internal customer orientation.
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills.

    Debt Collection Manager

     (REF: CCBI/DCM/07/22)

    Overall Responsibility:

    Responsible for maintaining a complete debt collection portfolio, working with delinquent clients to reduce non-performing loans both in amounts and number of accounts

    Objectives:

    • Management of debt
    • Cost efficiency
    • Performance Management
    • Promotion of a positive corporate image

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Analyze the assigned portfolio and recommend for approval turnaround propositions, strategies and actions that would lead to the recovery of the NPLs.
    • Negotiate for repayment with problem account holders during recovery, and enforce remedial measures taken such as restructuring, auctions, etc in the interest of the Sacco.
    • Attend/appear in court for hearings or as a witness when required and public auctions as the Sacco’s representatives.
    • Manage customer relationships where turnaround strategies have been activated to ensure the cure of accounts as well as manage the credit risk exposure.
    • Proactively manage relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external including service providers, potential off-takers of assets held as collateral, etc.
    • Regularly share lessons learned with all credit actors for future prevention.
    • Prepare and submit regular recovery and write-off reports as required.
    • Check and verify the accuracy, and completeness of all the relevant documents and balances before the commencement of hard recovery.
    • Ensure timely issue of relevant notices to customers that form the debt recovery process, ensure that all 90+ days past due files are properly maintained and have up-to-date file notes and ensure data integrity for all 90+ days past due is maintained.
    • Evaluate cost/benefits, identify appropriate alternatives and make recommendations on innovative initiatives to reduce recovery costs and improve efficiency.
    • Recommend payment to service providers.
    • Appraise the performance of debt recovery officers. 
    • Ensure compliance with the laid down policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications and Skills

    • A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course.
    • CCP/CPA will be an added advantage.
    • 5 years of experience in a management level of a debt collection organization/financial institution.
    • Knowledge of proper and ethical debt collection techniques.
    • Great time management and organization skills.
    • Strong negotiating, decision making and problem-solving skills.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, and Excel.
    • Able to work well as a team and on own initiative.
    • High integrity.
