    Team Lead - Maintenance

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

    Reporting to the Head of Facility & Healthcare Technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Maintenance section of the Facility management and safety department in compliance with all legal requirements. Ensure efficient day to day running of the hospital utilities and making sure all maintenance equipment in all the departments are in good working condition by scheduled maintenance and servicing.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Evaluate systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
    • Works with maintenance supervisor to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks.
    • Assess building systems to plan work assignments.
    • Collaborate with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegate assignments based on team members skills and experience.
    • Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.
    • Assist team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
    • Inspect work performed by team members.
    • Track and log team members time, materials, and other resources used for inventory purposes.
    • Work with maintenance supervisor to coordinate topics for safety meetings.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in any of the engineering fields
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferably in a hospital environment.
    • Have technical knowledge and experience with Steam boilers/steam systems, water systems, HVAC systems, electrical supply & distribution switchgear, diesel generators operation and maintenance.

    Maintenance Officer - HVAC and Refrigeration

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

    Reporting to the Team lead - Maintenance, the successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring that the existing and new refrigeration, air-conditioning, and mechanical ventilation installations are always in a safe and good working order and that they are in good repair state throughout the hospital and satellite facilities operated by the hospital.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Carry out in a timely manner the planned preventive maintenance as per the PPM schedule.
    • Maintain all the existing and new refrigeration, air-conditioning, and mechanical ventilation installations of the institution.
    • Carry out in a timely manner the routine maintenance works raised in the maintenance help desk and those assigned by the supervisor.
    • Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers, Air handling units, split /VRF type air conditioners and portable cooling units.
    • Create a preventive maintenance plan for all HVAC and refrigeration equipment and follow up to complete the planned maintenance in accordance with the Schedule and as per the statutory and industrial standards. 
    • Maintain and repair a variety of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers, Air handling units, split /VRF type air conditioners and portable cooling units.as a result of a complaint received or after any inspection.
    • Create requisitions for materials required for the smooth operation of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment.
    • Perform Pre-purchase technical appraisal to advise the hospital on the selection of correct technology for the HVAC and Refrigeration.
    • Perform technical Inspections to ensure the selected technology has been received as per the specifications agreed.
    • Perform Installations with the help of Vendors once the HVAC and refrigeration equipment are received and inspected.
    • Proper coordination between team members.
    • Ensure all work follow the Joint Commission International standards, International Standard Organization standards and any other quality patient safety standards practiced by the institution
    • Record the true status of all the elements on the daily maintenance checklist.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum a Diploma in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning work.
    • 3 years of relevant work experience – experience in a busy medical institution is highly desirable.
    • Good organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work at odd hours and / or travel at short notice.
    • Excellent communication skills

    • Computer literate.

    Prevention & Control Of Infection Coordinator

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

    Reporting to the Director Quality Services Kenya & Head of Nursing Practice, Kisumu, the Prevention & Control of Infection Coordinator (PCIC) will support the activities of the prevention, control and infection program in the Hospital through systematic analysis of health data, develop standard guidelines on infection control and investigate and report infection control problems.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct regular rounds in all hospital departments to discuss, monitor and follow the infection control practices with staff personnel.
    • Collect data on healthcare associated infections from all hospital departments and maintain records for each case.
    • Monitor compliance to infection prevention and control practices in all areas of the hospital.
    • Lead in development of policies and guidelines to guide infection control practices in all areas of the hospital.
    • Provide oversight of compliance with infection prevention and control practices in the outreach centers.
    • Coordinate with the hospital leadership regarding priorities, resources and quality improvement related to the infection prevention and control program.
    • Ensure a systematical collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate appropriate health practices.
    • Investigate infection control problems/outbreaks and arrange follow-up care for patients exposed to infectious diseases.
    • Implement educational programs to provide staff with knowledge and skills regarding infection control practices and preventive measures to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
    • Ensure availability of supplies/equipment needed to prevent infections.
    • Prepare monthly statistical report for presentation on behalf of infection control committee.
    • Report hospital infection outbreaks to the Chair and Prevention and Control of Infection Committee members.
    • Report any ‘reportable’ disease to the local government public health authorities.
    • Collaborate with Occupational Health & Safety Unit to ensure employee vaccinations are up to date.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, or other related field from a recognized Institution.
    • At least five (5) years’ work experience in an acute care setting, with two (2) years' experience as a Prevention & Control of Infection Coordinator.
    • Valid practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer care skills.
