    Communications Associate

    Summary of Job

    • The Communications Associate will report to the Director of Communications and IT and work on all aspects of PFS communications, including creating communications materials and products, corporate partner communications, media relations, and external communications. The Communications Associate will help create and drive content and messaging strategy as part of our communications team. The ideal candidate for the Communications Associate role has experience working as part of a communications team for a mission-driven organization and the ability to create work that is engaging and concise. As a small-but-mighty-team, we regularly learn new skills in order to deliver best in class content for our stakeholders and are well known for delivering best in class communications materials and services.     Role and Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with PFS teammates, African field staff and corporate partner volunteers and other stakeholders
    • Write stories and create other communications materials in an engaging, journalistic style.
    • Support PFS messaging efforts through our social media, newsletter, website and other digital communications.
    • Take the lead on creating Partner Impact Reports and delivering them on deadline
    • Partner with staff to create materials for client and volunteer events
    • Prepare content/materials for external meetings and speaking engagements (i.e., research briefings, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, etc.).
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or related field.
    • 5-7 years experience in communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
    • Experience in nonprofit communications or journalism
    • Excellent writing skills, English fluency
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and stay on deadline.
    • Ability to recognize and champion opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Ability to work independently
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen well and positively represent the organization and its mission
    • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
    • Comfort and skill with technology/software systems
    • Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a small team
    • Trustworthy
    • Ambitious and takes initiative; committed to getting the job done
    • “Can Do” attitude

    Preferred Skills

    • A passion for international development or corporate philanthropy/social responsibility
    • Experience with Salesforce.com and/or other CRM or database programs
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Lightroom, Illustrator or Photoshop
    • Proficiency in French
    • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Interest in photography and/or video production

    Additional Notes

    • Domestic or international travel may occasionally be required
    • This role will be based in Ghana, PFS will not sponsor work permits required to work, candidates applying should have required authorizations to work in Ghana.
