    Mechanical Engineer

    About The Job

    Job Summary
    We care about people and positive work cultures.

    • To accelerate our product development to delivery and to conceptualise new hardware design and prototype products, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to be based out of our Accra (Ghana) Headquarters.
    • A portfolio (or equivalent) showing images of engineering work and projects previously worked on is required for this role. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design systems and components for new model and platform development projects, considering function, form, cost, manufacturing, assembly and quality.
    • Work closely with our suppliers and their engineering teams to ensure products meet Kofa’s specifications and delivery requirements.
    • Produce 3D CAD models using Solidworks, Catia or Fusion 360 (experience of other CAD packages also considered) to the required approval and release standard.
    • Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements (GH, UK, EU & UN) and to internal test procedures.
    • Work within an Agile Hardware process to create new results, quickly and have the ability to add to, evolve and drive this working practice.
    • Work closely with a whole team structure, with daily interactions and updates across the entire company. 
    • Be able to work under your own initiative and pressure to drive results and deliver working products.
    • Plan & manage time, workload and reporting requirements effectively.
    • Create and manage timing plans for your own areas of responsibility.
    • Create and manage BoM & supplier delivery plans for all hardware in an agile working structure.
    • Provide engineering guidance to other team members.

    Qualifications:

    • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Systems, Automotive, Motorsport, Aeronautical).

    Experience:

    • Demonstrate experience in engineering design of components and subassemblies (portfolio / visual examples of work required to be shown).
    • Detailed knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and engineering for production.
    • Proficient in 3D CAD & basic FEA.
    • Experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings.
    • Practical understanding of motorcycle chassis & body layout and construction.
    • Able to design and engineer moving / mechanical components for production.
    • Understanding of battery / motor electronics (electric vehicles & electrical components).
    • Experience in designing to global regulatory requirements for vehicles/motorcycles and other electrical products.
    • Experience of leading design reviews.
    • Experience of delivering to KPI / OKR organisational requirements.
    • Practical experience of motorcycle riding and ownership is advantageous.

    • Able to work at our central office in Accra (Ghana).
    • Chinese speaking is advantageous.
