    Reproductive Health Advisor (Based in Mombasa)

    We are seeking a highly motivated and research-oriented Reproductive Health Advisor to provide strategic leadership and clinical expertise in our reproductive, maternal, HIV/STI, and adolescent health programs. The successful candidate will be a lead researcher and technical authority, responsible for strengthening the design, implementation, and rigorous evaluation of our evidence-based interventions. This role requires a strong background in clinical practice combined with a proven ability to lead research projects, analyze data, and translate findings into actionable policy and programmatic recommendations. The Advisor will be instrumental in ensuring our interventions are aligned with national policies, global best practices, and are continuously informed by the latest scientific evidence.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Lead and provide oversight for all research projects related to reproductive, maternal, newborn, and adolescent health (RMNCAH).
    • Drive the development of research proposals, secure ethical approvals, and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Support the organization’s research agenda by leading data analysis, abstract writing, and the creation of compelling policy briefs and evidence-based recommendations for stakeholders.
    • Provide high-level technical and clinical guidance into the design, implementation, and evaluation of RMNCAH programs.
    • Advise on the integration of sexual and reproductive health services within broader health systems strengthening initiatives, informed by robust evidence.
    • Ensure program interventions meet the highest standards of clinical quality through regular clinical audits, supportive supervision, and mentorship of program and partner staff.
    • Participate in the development of data-driven training curricula for healthcare providers and program teams, ensuring content is based on the latest research and best practices.
    • Lead quality assurance processes, including clinical audits and maternal/perinatal death reviews, using findings to inform and improve program strategies.
    • Represent the organization in high-level research and technical working groups, donor meetings, and international conferences to share findings and advance our research agenda.
    • Forge strategic collaborations with academic institutions, government ministries, and other research organizations to expand our evidence base and influence policy.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
    • Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MMed) from a recognized institution.
    • Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and in good standing.
    • Additional postgraduate training in public health, epidemiology, global health, or health systems strengthening.
    • Clinical experience in RMNCAH, HIV/AIDs and STIs
    • At least 7–10 years of progressive experience in reproductive health programming, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior technical leadership role within an NGO or public health program.
    • Demonstrated track record of leading and publishing research, with a strong understanding of research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
    • Experience in program design, clinical guideline development, and quality improvement, informed by a strong evidence base.
    • Proven experience working with major international donors (USAID, FCDO, UNFPA, Global Fund, Gates Foundation) and their research-specific compliance requirements.
