    CIC Supervisor - Underground

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The CIC Supervisor-Underground is accountable for the maintenance, monitoring and control of all instrumentation, communication and controls aspects of Underground Fixed and Mobile Plant Infrastructure at KMS, including the CIC Distribution, Mine Services and Mine Dewatering through the application of operational engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Support the CIC refurbishment and New Construction of Underground material handling, dewatering and fixed plants in the project and transition into operations. Execute refurbishment, later maintenance on a routine scheduled basis for the underground areas
    • Lead a team of CIC Technicians to carry out maintenance of the CIC aspects of the Underground Fixed and Mobile Plant Infrastructure. This involves all the replacement & calibration of instrumentation, Wi-Fi & Leaky feeder extensions, updating drawings (Red line), disconnect/reconnection of instruments, maintaining the integrity of the operating environment of all CIC equipment
    • Assist the E&I Superintendent – UG to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for Underground CIC Fixed and Mobile Plant Infrastructure
    • Assist the Engineering Technical team to implement continuous improvement initiatives or projects. Liaise with CIC Engineers regarding future installations. Refer to schematic drawings and relate these to fault find issues with CIC equipment.
    • Update drawings and give feedback to respective Engineering Technical Team
    • Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution on the CIC UG infrastructure
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for new build/maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Gather information on operating equipment and collect data to diagnose/troubleshoot operating machinery problems
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and root cause failure analysis process of Electrical equipment as per requirement
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or is unsafe to be used

     
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or equivalent

    Experience 

    • An experienced Maintenance supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in CIC Infrastructure
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory role, preferably Mine Infrastructure Maintenance
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module
    • Knowledge in the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation
    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body
    • Familiarity with Maintenance/ Operating Underground communication, instrumentation and material handling systems

     
    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Electrical maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
    • Knowledge in AGA standards
    • Knowledge in OEM legalities and mining regulations
    • Demonstrated understanding of good Supervisory practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies

    Electrical Supervisor Underground

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Electrical Supervisor – Underground reports to E&I Superintendent and is accountable for the monitoring and control of the output of Underground Electrical refurbishment of electrical equipment and new Electrical infrastructure installations in the underground space at KMS to standard, the transition to operations as well as operations and maintenance of underground electrical infrastructure, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximize plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Shift Supervisor - Rail System

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Supervisor Rail System is accountable for the monitoring and control of maintenance and operations of Underground Rail Systems through the application of operational policies, standards, processes, and procedures to maximize safe production in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Accept personal responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work
    • Work compliantly with the requirement of government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation and AGAG regulation
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned job
    • Must correct, or report to supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well as make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management
    • Conduct periodic audits of all the state of usage of Rail Transport System
    • Conduct reviews of the Rail refurbishment, later maintenance, to identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured
    • Organize information for the Superintendent to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for all Rail System.
    • Utilize the SAP asset maintenance management system in maintenance and asset management activities, also logging all fluids and consumables usages and registering all LI2182 compliances and certificates
    • Execute regular controls on maintenance and operations work quality, according to standards, timeliness and AGAG compliance.
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This includes visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection
    • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action
    • Monitor the performance of all equipment operation. This includes but is not limited to: Verifying the pre-start checks are being carried out and submitted and indicated anomalies are being corrected in an acceptable timeframe
    • Record and analyse consumables – oils, cooling fluids, hydraulics, lubricants, etc in Rail System including engine, where applicable, transmission, fluid couplings/ torque convertor and gearbox oil analysis logging.
    • Record the adherence to preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with OEM recommended service cycles
    • Record all required regulatory measures, reports, quantities, operational data
    • Analyze Mean Time Between Failures and Mean Time Between Replacements for components, vehicles and machines also permitting correct Reliability reporting
    • Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and as per the plant requirements
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected and escalate in order to permit diagnosis / troubleshooting rotating machinery problems
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of equipment, when required

     
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent
    • Supervisory training certificate

     
    Experience

    • An experienced underground Rail System Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, diverse environment operations/maintenance
    • Knowledge of Computer Planned Maintenance Module

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess Sectional Engineer’s Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana
    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body.

     
    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Engineering operations/maintenance competencies in rail system in mining environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Carries out planned maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules and helps to develop and maintain schedules in line with requirements
    • Ensure all underground rail system processes are fully compliant with organizational and legislative health and safety requirement.
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Excel
