    Disease Area Medical Director Ophthalmology

    Job Description

    • Disease Area Medical Director Ophthalmology is a VACC model leader,  coaching local medical teams to drive local organizational readiness for pivotal data releases, ensuring high-quality input into medical/scientific planning, including local and regional data generation, catalyzing scientific collaborations and knowledge exchange/upcycling of activities in line with global strategy.


    Your future Position, Scope and Impact: 

    • Ensures alignment and communication with all relevant internal and external stakeholders when applicable on all matters related to planning medical activities 
    • Contributes to establishing and implementing appropriate policies and standards 
    • Partners with global Product Development Medical Affairs when needed to define data gaps along patients' journey, proactively and efficiently co-shaping Integrated Evidence Plan strategy to capture affiliates needs
    • Collaborates with regulatory to identify options for acceleration of approvals by co-creation 
    • Acts as Medical expert, point of reference for data generation activities on specific therapeutic areas


    Your Capabilities:

    • Establishing and maintaining reliable relationships with scientific advocacy organizations in the respective Disease Area
    • Broad understanding of business context in the respective Disease Area, including access evidence requirements and external value/decision-making drivers
    • Profound knowledge of the overall drug development process


    You bring the following education and experiences:

    • You are a MD or MD/PhD in ophthalmology or, in another therapeutic area, complemented with extensive pharma industry experience in Ophthalmology, esp. Medical Retina field.
    • Profound experience in pharmaceutical medicine, including data generation, medical communication, medical information, and pharmacovigilance
    • MD with relevant clinical experience (patient care decision making) at the point of care and board-certified specialist in the respective disease area 
    • You have experience in partnering with therapeutic area experts and external organizations
    • Experience in leadership  roles for above country or global teams
    • Development/medical affairs prelaunch and launch experience
    • Surgical device experience is a plus

    Integrated Disease Solution Leader

    Job Description

    • The iDSL is a functionally agnostic leader and an enabler of impactful networking and empowerment of ‘local’ ecosystems across franchises and disease areas using an enterprise mindset, to enable real value addition between Roche and the community of patients, families and HCPs.
    • You will leverage the above-country network to identify ecosystems with similar challenges in their communities. Where relevant, collaborate to enable better, faster, and more effective solutions for in-country enablers.
    • You match capabilities, capacity, and passion to areas of greatest potential impact for patients, healthcare systems and Roche.
    • You will continuously grow and develop as individuals and as a self-managed team to role model for the organization.
    • While your key responsibility is to deliver on the needs of the communities, ecosystems and the company products you are responsible for, you will also align the Pharma International Network on prioritized outcomes for Ophthalmology, swarm resources and stewardship through the network towards the prioritized outcomes, and assess progress for accelerated impact.

    Your future Position, Scope and Impact: 

    • VACC leadership of fit-for-purpose collaborative networks to deliver North Star outcomes
    • Working closely with global teams(market access/regulatory) to input into the production and realization of the disease area outcomes
    • Collaborating with global partners to define/ identify regulatory and access data gaps enabling local acceleration strategies
    • Aligning on prioritized outcomes across Pharma International, stewarding and enabling resources swarming around those outcomes.
    • Catalyzes the development and realization of the priorities that are developed from TA Outcomes Based Planning (OBP) across the network
    • Co-creation and architecting of disease area work packages’ across the Pharma International affiliate network
    • Serves as a strategic partner and steward of the realization of Integrated Strategy Plans by ‘Sparking’ connections and collaborative innovations across the network.
    • Be a catalyst for knowledge management, connecting people to people, and people to knowledge, continuously architecting systems so information flows through the network. Considers innovative approaches for rapid practice sharing and implementation.
    • Stewarding the therapeutic areas across Pharma International affiliates, addressing the need to support the appropriate use of Roche’s approved medicines to add value to patients and healthcare systems.
