    Consular Investigations Assistant/All Interested Applicants; All Sources

    Duties

    • Incumbent conducts detailed and complex investigations related to applications for nonimmigrant visas, immigrant visas, diversity visas, and American Citizen services.  
    • Conducts investigations and documents verifications requested by the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, and other posts.
    •  The work requires field investigations and interviews, which includes reviewing dockets and files at government offices and at religious, educational, and other institutions and organizations.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:

    •  A minimum of two years of (1) investigative work (such as, but not limited to, criminal investigations in police or military organizations or other professional law enforcement organization); (2) work involving the application of complex regulations; or (3) work involving the Ghanaian legal and civil registry systems

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    •  Must be proficient in MS Windows-based computer systems and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
    • Must have strong knowledge of Ghanaian civil and customary laws relating to marriage, divorce and adoption and the Ghanaian penal code.
    •  Must have strong knowledge of Ghanaian immigration law, Ghana's social, religious, economic, and political conditions, and fraud trends in Ghana and nearby countries.
    •  Must be familiar with Ghanaian offices that can validate documents (the offices of births and deaths, registrars, police departments, schools, churches, hospitals, and airlines). 

    Education Requirements:

    • At least two years of full-time, post-secondary study at university, vocational college or commercial college is required studying business, law, psychology, international relations, or economics. 

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE:

    •  Level 4 - Fluent; written/spoken, including the ability to translate and communicate with members of the public in at least two of the Ghanaian local languages. 

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

    • Must have strong knowledge of techniques that are used to investigate misconduct, malfeasance, fraud, or crimes.
    •  Must have excellent interviewing, analytical, and writing skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in English).
    •  Must understand human behavior under stressful situations, and how to communicate with unwilling or uncooperative subjects.  Must have keen observation and listening skills to capture interview details that may be implied.
    •  Must be able to consider and analyze a variety of details quickly, comprehend their individual and collective significance,

    Regional Environment, Science, Technology, and Health (ESTH) Assistant - Open to USEFMs Only

    Duties

    • Under direct supervision of Regional Environmental Officer the incumbent provides support to the Regional Environment Office
    • (REO) including: developing initiatives and strategies, reporting, editing, researching, and serving in an acting capacity during absence of principal officer.
    • The incumbent holds primary responsibility for energy efficiency and conservation, solid waste and recycling, and
    • air quality issues, coordinating closely with the Management sections.
    • The position also serves as a Grants Officer Representative, and
    • performs administrative support activities as necessary.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Three years of progressively responsible experience in natural science, planning, program/project development, management, or evaluation is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Two years university studies is required.

    LANGUAGE:

    •  Fluent oral and written English is required. This may be tested.
