    Engineering Supervisor – Light Machinery Equipment

    The Engineering Supervisor – LME is accountable for the monitoring and control of maintenance and operations of the LME through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximize equipment availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety.
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.
    • Gather information for the Superintendent – Light Vehicles & Services for reporting performance.
    • Conduct periodic audits of all LME in the infrastructure.
    • Conduct reviews of the LME infrastructure to identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured.
    • Organize information for the Superintendent to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment.
    • Utilize the SAP asset maintenance management system in maintenance activities.
    • Execute regular controls on maintenance and operations of work quality, according to standards, timeliness and AGAG compliance.
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, and prime mover condition and data collection, simple NDT data collection.
    • Analyze trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to determine equipment condition and report such condition for action.
    • Monitor general physical condition of equipment.
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling.
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the OEM requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected and escalate in order to permit diagnosis / troubleshooting rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of equipment, when required.
    • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
    • Identify, communicate, and escalate potential cost reduction initiatives
    • Propose cost savings projects
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment/maintenance work and contractors to timelines, escalate real or potential delays
    • Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or Equivalent
    • Supervisory training certificate

    Experience 

    • An experienced Engineering operations Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, Underground operations/maintenance
    • Knowledge of SAP PM Module

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess Sectional Engineer’s Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana
    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body.

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Engineering operations/maintenance competencies in mining environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel

    Winder Instrumentation Technician

    The Winder Instrumentation Technician reports to the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor and is accountable for executing all planned and corrective maintenance on winder instrumentation, communication and controls in accordance with the LI2182 requirements and as instructed during refurbishment, later maintenance, of the winder equipment and infrastructure.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor for reporting performance
    • Conduct periodic audits of all winder instrumentation, communications and control refurbishment, later maintenance
    • Conduct reviews of the refurbishment, later maintenance, of the winder CIC equipment to identify actions for continuous improvement
    • Assist the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for correct functioning equipment;
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection, verification of output within calibration and specification;
    • Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of winder CIC assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Execute repair work, where appropriate, on winder instrumentation, communication and control equipment
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/maintenance, repair planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of winder CIC equipment as per requirements.
    • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Certificated Trade Apprenticeship with a relevant certification body (e.g. City and Guilds)
    • Completed trade apprenticeship in electronics repair for communications, instrumentation

    Experience 

    • An experienced electronics/instrumentation maintenance technician with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in, preferably, winding instrumentation, communication and controls in an underground environment

    Legal Requirement

    • Certification to carry out refurbishment and repair work on winding instrumentation, communication and controls in accordance with LI2182

    Technical Competencies

    • Fully literate and numerate
    • Strong Instrumentation/ electronics maintenance competencies in extractive metallurgy and/or mining environment

    Mechanical Technician – Heave Machinery Equipment

    The Mechanical Technician – HME reports to the HME Supervisor and is accountable for executing all Maintenance task on Mobile, Overhead Cranes and Forklifts as well as Keeping Records on all lifting tackles in line with all Statutory Compliance to LI2182 in a safe manner as instructed during refurbishment, later maintenance of the HME equipment and

    Infrastructure.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety.
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.
    • Gather information for the Supervisor for reporting performance.
    • Conduct periodic audits of all HME equipment in infrastructure.
    • Observe and identify actions for continuous improvement.
    • Organize information for the Supervisor to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for equipment.
    • Receive work orders from and report back in a timely manner for closure of work orders in the SAP asset maintenance management.
    • Execute maintenance work to required tasked quality, according to standards, timeliness and AGAG compliance.
    • Execute equipment checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, prime mover condition and data collection, simple NDT data collection.
    • Monitor and report predictive maintenance data to determine equipment condition and report this condition for action.
    • Escalate information and observations to allow generation of work requests in SAP as required for maintenance planning and scheduling.
    • After completion of work, provide information for correct close out of the work orders.
    • Execute routine condition monitoring tasks on all the rotating equipment for data collection according to the established schedules and as per OEM requirements.
    • Identify, communicate, and escalate potential cost reduction initiatives to the Supervisor.
    • Propose cost savings projects.
    • Execute work in a timely manner; escalate real or potential delays to Supervisor.
    • Provide information to permit logging of monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Supervisor on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and report to the Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Secondary / Technical Education
    • Certificate of successful completion of respected mechanical trade apprenticeship (example: City and Guilds).

    • National Vocational Trade Institute (NVTI) Certificate Grade 1
    • Certified training of LI2182 requirements

    Experience 

    • Five (5) years of experience of post-apprenticeship work in a mechanical trade (Preferably in a Mining/Construction Environment)
    • Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulations

    Legal Requirement

    • Inspecting/operating Certificate of Competency issued by Mincom.

    Technical Competencies

    • Fully literate and numerate
    • Fully competent in mechanical trade
    • Knowledge in crane safe operation
