    ACOTA Senior PSO SME – Female Engagement Team (FET)

    Job Description

    • To support the African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA) contract in Ghana.
    • The PSO Senior Subject Matter Expert – FET will be the Team Lead’s principal mentor for GAF-led FET training 
    • The PSO Senior Subject Matter Expert – FET will mentor, advise and assist GAF trainers conducting FET raining to battalions deploying to MONUSCO and UNMISS IAW with learning objectives and outcomes.
    • This position is located in Ghana and is contingent upon award.

    Requirement/Skills

    • Minimum of ten (10) years U.S. or foreign military experience as a civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) practitioner and at least one deployment as part of a FET or on a provincial reconstruction team.
    • Completion of a U.S. or foreign equivalent recognized FET course for land forces.
    • Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa.

    ACOTA Senior PSO Staff Mentor

    Job Description

    • Mentor, advise, and assist GAF trainers as they plan, design, and conduct CSOS training for a minimum of 15 training days, which includes 5 days for a Command Post Exercise (CPX) for a GAF battle group and staff preparing to deploy to UNMISS.
    • Mentor GAF FSOS cadre to emphasize some of the following key objectives:
      • Battalion planning and decision making, specific duties of principal and special staff sections and the operation of a 24-hour tactical operations center (TOC).
      • Effective political, military, economic, social, information, infrastructure, physical environment, and time (PMESII-PT) assessment of the battalion’s projected area of responsibility (AOR).
      • Force Protection
      • Base Security and Entry Control Procedures
      • Convoy Security, to include Breakdown/Recovery Operations
      • Route, Area and Point Reconnaissance Operations
      • Unit Mobility and Engineering Operations
      • Cordon and Search Operations

    Requirement/Skills

    • Minimum of a BA/ BS Degree from an accredited institution
    • Minimum of fifteen (15) cumulative years of experience in military operations to include combat arms battalion/brigade level staff or as a civilian trainer of U.S. or foreign military staff.
    • Experience as senior trainer to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
    • Thorough understanding of international human rights and peacekeeping mission mandates, including gender respect/parity, protection of civilians (POC), and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). 
    • Battalion and/or brigade staff experience while deployed to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation, U.S. or foreign military.
    • Ability to fill the role of TL if required to best support the goals and tasks of the GPOI Program.
    • Military Education Level 3 or 4 (Command and General Staff College or equivalent).
    • UN Peacekeeping Operations experience.

    ACOTA Team Lead

    Job Description

    • The Team Lead (TL) will be the Program Manager’s primary point of contact for contract execution and coordination of the U.S. Department of State’s complex, multifaceted Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) Program in Ghana.
    • The TL is the in-country manager of the workflow process at the deployed location and manages all aspects of mission completion.
    • The TL is the primary interface with the US Embassy, Partner nation military leadership, US military, international partners and other stakeholders associated with the training of peacekeepers. This position is contingent upon award.
    • Receives guidance from the PM and GPOI and is responsible for providing in-country direction and management for all contract and task order activities.
    • manages personnel assignments and reassignments to different in-country GPOI Program training tasks and missions as required.
    • Maintains professional standards of accountability, quality, and effectiveness of all deployed personnel on his team.
    • Monitors and tracks movement of all task order contractors traveling to, working in, and departing from the country the TL is deployed to.
    • Responsible for the conduct of individual and collective training as specified in the Task Order.
    • Provides direction and oversight of day-to-day operations in-country for training. Coordinates and manages all in-country personnel and logistical support for contractors on this Task.
    • Responsible for all aspects of training management and execution in coordination with the partner nation and GPOI.
    • Ensures all instructor/trainers are prepared to teach in accordance with standards defined in GPOI task orders.
    • Inspects and supervises all in-country training. Liaises with GAF, USG, and GPOI representatives.
    • Managing all aspects of training ensuring development of the PMTC Training Center to include partner nation trainers.

    Requirement/Skills

    • Completed U.S. or foreign equivalent Military Education Level 4 (Command and General Staff College)
    • Minimum of fifteen (15) years military operations and training experience cumulative with directly related experience in overseas program operations.
    • Demonstrated experience as a senior mentor/coach to a senior foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
    • Experience in organizational development, conducting activities intended to drive institutional improvement and self-sufficient organizational change.
    • Attainment of military grade of O-5 or higher
    • Commanded a combat arms battalion level “armor, cavalry or infantry” in the U.S. or foreign military land forces that will allow that individual to best support the task order objectives and goals while mentoring the peacekeeping battalion leadership
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Regional Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Experience in a U.S. or foreign military training and doctrine development organization, or permanent assignment to a U.S. or foreign military training school or combat training center

    ACOTA Senior PSO Soldier Skills Mentor

    Job Description

    • Mentor, advise, and assist GAF trainers as they plan, design, and conduct Soldier Skills Training for a GAF battalion of officers, noncommissioned officers and soldiers preparing to deploy to South Sudan.
    • Emphasize the role of the PN cadre in leading the execution of soldier skills training, with trainers in a supporting role to ensure trainees are receiving and absorbing training topics.
    • Provide mentoring support to strengthen the capabilities of PN cadre to effectively execute training.
    • Instill a strong understanding of the ROE, including peacekeepers’ rights to use force for self-defense and defense of the mandate.
    • Mentor, advise, and assist GAF providing training on those skills necessary for soldiers, at the individual, squad, platoon and company levels to operate in UNMISS.
    • Mentor, advise, and assist the GAF to develop, prepare and execute GAF-led Field Training Certification Exercise (FTX/CERTEX).

    Requirement/Skills

    • Minimum of ten (10) years of U.S. or foreign military operations and training experience in a Combat Arms Specialty “armor, cavalry, special forces or infantry.” 
    • Experience as senior trainer to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building.
    • Thorough understanding of international human rights and peacekeeping mandates, including gender respect/parity, protection of civilians (POC), prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (POC).

    ACOTA Advanced Training Management Trainer

    Job Description

    • Plan, design, and conduct 20 training days for the Advanced Instructor Development for up to 50 GAF trainers assigned to the DAPKOP or the GAF PMTC responsible for current and future peacekeeping training.
    • Develop modules of instruction to help them develop training management and instructional skills.
    • Provide all training materials, including PPT presentations, lesson plans, and other training aids to present training.
    • Teach and test through practical exercises (PEs) the techniques and procedures for effective military training management and instructor skills.

    Requirement/Skills

    • Minimum of ten (10) years U.S. or foreign military construction engineering occupational specialty experience.
    • Experience as a senior trainer to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building.
    • Experience managing military construction engineering projects (i.e., force protection, base camp design, water, and road improvement missions) in austere environments.
    • UN peacekeeping operations experience.
    • Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa.
