    About The Job

    Role Purpose And Context:

    • The Manager – Security, is accountable for facilitating the implementation and continually improving the effectiveness of existing security systems, policies and procedures, resources and processes, to protect life and secure company assets and to create a safe working environment, primarily by leading and managing Security Operations and Investigations.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
    • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
    • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion. 
    • Accountable for the implementation, communication, and enforcement of all environmental legal compliance for the department. 
    • Identify the environmental aspects of all activities/areas of oversight responsibilities and provide appropriate mitigation measures.   
    • Investigate, respond, and take measures to prevent actual/ potential environmental in the areas of responsibility. 
    • Responsible for continuous environmental improvement in the areas of work.  
    • Demonstrate Environmental Leadership by supporting team members and other managers to achieve their environmental objective and requirements  
    • Contribute to the environmental training of all direct reports within the department/section.
    • Implement the approved labour plans and budget.
    • Make proper arrangement for the efficient deployment and supervision of all security personnel, their safety and welfare.
    • Undertake occasional inspection of patrols, beats, installations, and all other company properties and promptly institute measures to address any security lapses.
    • Train all personnel in the respective SOP’s pertaining to their place of work.
    • Develop a succession plan for all direct report roles and in the Security Department
    • Lead and manage Security resources (e.g.,people, budget, etc.) and contracted labour / service providers in area of accountability to ensure the utilization of security technologies, surveillance and standards to achieve desired strategic objectives within budget and time frame agreed.
    • Facilitate implementation and compliance to the Security Framework, Policies and Procedures at the Operations (mine)
    • Identify, align, and implement continuous improvement of security and surveillance systems to enable the operational transactional security processes required for the mine, e.g identifying, managing, and evaluating the threats and vulnerability of the company, managing the risk to company assets including personnel, property, and information of the company.
    • Provide leadership, priorities, integration, and technical support to the Senior Manager – Security, regarding security specific issues and plans, and ensure their execution at the operations (mine).
    • Engage / collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to maintain effective working relations to ensure that security operations at Obuasi Mine are conducted within regulatory jurisdiction and globally accepted social and human rights standards.
    • Maintain a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank security risks as these relate to Obuasi Mine in order to promote a security and risk-aware culture, ensure that any potential impact is understood, and facilitate effective decision making and security risk mitigation.
    • Facilitate the implementation of systems to mitigate identified risk, to protect people and to prevent and reduce loss of its assets
    • Manage the approved budget for the Security Department and perform regular cost analysis and cost control exercises to stay within the annual budget or internal targets.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce cost or improve the cost efficiency of Security Operations.
    • Create awareness/implementation/delivery/management of declaration of conflict of interest of direct reports
    • Create awareness/implementation/delivery/management of security reporting (weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual) requirements, including but not limited to statutory reporting requirements

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Qualification

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Security and/or Risk Management or related fields.

    Experience:

    • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience of which five (5+) years should be at a management level with substantial knowledge and experience in a mining operations, Security Administration and Investigation, Risk management, Metallurgy, Community Relations and/or associated business field in a management capacity.

    Technical Competencies:

    • Experience in planning and executing security operations mitigating risk and lawful application of all investigative needs.
    • Knowledge in developing crime management plans and implementation of mitigating plans. 
    • Proven experience in project management of projects with a high level of complexity.
    • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Conflict management, Mentorship & coaching
    • Sound understanding of the mining value chain and impacts of Security Management
    • Demonstrated capacity to interpret data and successfully action sound short-term tactical decisions
    • Commercial acumen relevant to the role

    Security Superintendent - Process Plant.

    About The Job

    • We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Security Superintendent - Process Plant.

    Role Purpose And Content:

    • To assist the Security Manager in managing a team to ensure the maintenance of law and order and safeguarding (prevention/detection/protection) of the Company’s assets (life and property) within the Process Plant.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Effectively model value-based behaviours and apply all managerial leadership practices in relation to Subordinates
    • Build and maintain a team of Subordinates capable of doing the necessary work
    • Appraise performance of security operations within Process Plant by regular inspections and audits in order to improve on level of security
    • Communicate all changes to policies, procedures and codes team within area of accountability
    • Connect & coordinate with various interest group within Process Plant
    • Consult/Advise with line management regarding security practices
    • Coordinate and monitor bullion dispatches
    • Assist in the development of an operational plan with a 3 month to 1-year duration for the Security Function
    • Evaluate current access/surveillance systems for effectiveness within Processing Plant
    • Initiate appropriate security actions and practices
    • Render technical advice to key stakeholders e.g. plant personnel, and line management on matters such as trends, systems, policies, procedures and codes
    • Represent the business unit on various forums if applicable
    • Propose/Recommend changes to existing policies, procedures and codes to ensure effectiveness
    • Manage the implementation of approved changes to security systems within Processing Plant
    • Analyze appropriate security actions and practices by checking weekly reports on all incidents and crime reported
    • Implement operational plans in accordance of Threat & Risk analysis in area of accountability.
    • Identify and initiate investigations in areas of concern
    • Analyze new trends in crime or up rises in statistics within Processing Plant and take appropriate action
    • Investigate all reported crime
    • Ensure screening practices for all employees employed in positions of trust where applicable
    • Ensure appropriate admin systems for personnel data, crime registers, bullion despatch registers, reports, etc. are in place within area of accountability
    • Coordinate the administration of various security functions within area of accountability
    • Develop and propose annual budget and monitor expenditure monthly
    • Assist in forecasting next budget cycle requirements
    • Continuously identify and maintain cost savings initiatives
    • Identify and access all hazards and risks
    • Initiate regular risk assessments within area of accountability and update AURISK accordingly.
    • Model behaviour that is consistent with AGAG Health and Safety Vision and Values
    • Contribute to the identification of risks, resolve and escalate issues that impact on area of accountability
    • Maintain processes that facilitate a safe work environment e.g. lead safety toolbox talks, inspect planned task observations, review job safety analysis documentation and conduct work inspections to all employees and external service providers undertaking work within area of accountability to reduce the number of significant hazards towards zero lost time injuries
    • Promote Health and Safety at the workplace with a view of Zero Tolerance.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Qualification:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Security, ASIS CPP or equivalent
    • Relevant professional investigations training / qualification (CSMP, PSI, etc.)
    • A working knowledge in the Laws and Justice System of Ghana

    Experience:

    • Five (5) to seven (7) years of security/asset protection related experience with direct exposure in the fields of Operations, Process Plant and Security administration at any Security Leader level.
    • Experience and skilled knowledge in investigations will be an advantage

    Technical Competencies:

    • Qualified Firearm Instructor
    • Must have a valid driving license.
