    Maintenance Engineer

    About This Role:

    The Asset Management Operating Support Network (AM OSN) will provide subject matter expert (SME) and engineering support for global programs, such as Full Potential, Operate for Reliability (O4R), defect elimination, asset integrity, and root cause analysis. The Maintenance Engineer is a site-based role that reports centrally and is responsible for supporting site teams with subject matter expertise and support in rolling out recommendations from Reliability Engineers and specialized global programs including Hydrocarbon Management and Asset Integrity.

    Key outcomes include:

    • Provide support to site Asset Management teams with technical maintenance engineering/advising needs including facilitating and overseeing technical inspections, managing technical vendors on sites, and providing guidance to scope out complex maintenance work.
    • Drive site implementation of best practices and standards developed by Reliability Engineers and subject matter expert groups within the Asset Management Operating Support Network (AM OSN) including Hydrocarbon Management and Asset Integrity.
    • Communicate global Asset Management best practices and technical vision at a site level.

    In This Role You Will:

    Safety and Health

    • Demonstrate proactive leadership in achieving a global Newmont culture of safety and health.
    • Actively promote Newmont’s safety standards and improvement initiatives.

    Support site Asset Management teams with technical engineering expertise

    • Implement solutions for gaps or challenges faced by site Asset Management teams relating to maintenance engineering support.
    • Ensure site Asset Management teams are supported with best-in-class technical support when planning complex tasks, selecting and managing technical vendors, and conducting inspections.
    • Providing training of site personnel to support Asset Management programs including hydrocarbon management and condition monitoring.
    • Lead inspections and root cause analysis investigations at site.

    Ensure governance and successful execution of Asset Management Operating Support Network (AM OSN) programs on sites

    • Identify and mitigate challenges at sites relating to execution and governance of global reliability engineering, hydrocarbon management, and asset integrity programs and recommendations.
    • Act as site champion for Asset Management programs.
       

    Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a technical diploma, or equivalent industry experience.

    Additional Knowledge:

    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience desirable.
    • Understanding of reliability principles and data driven insights.

    Experience: 

    • 3-5 years of experience in heavy industry.
    • Experience with manual and computerized maintenance planning systems.
    • Experience with change, communication and knowledge management methodologies.
    • Experience in implementing Asset Management principles and best practices across multiple sites.
    • Experience using analytical tools and processes that improve Asset Management performance, reliability and safety, reducing operating costs and maximizing return on assets.
    • Experience with root cause analysis of production loss and development of successful solutions to reduce losses.
    • Experience facilitating statutory / regulatory requirements.

    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive performance improvement initiatives in a complex and global organization.

    Senior Contracts Officer

    About This Role

    • To implement, continuously improve and execute Newmont’s regional outline agreement services procurement strategy, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives across the entire Supply Chain, specifically focused on sourcing and procurement of services categories and outline agreements critical for the business.
    • Collaborate with effectively with all stakeholders in mining, process and support services in order to deliver best outcome of value to their budget. Proactively interact with suppliers and external bodies in order to ensure continuity of supply to all Newmont Africa operations. Facilitates the supply chain deliverables on Supplier Risk Management and Lifecycle procurement and contract Management process. Seek and leverage local, regional and global Newmont procurement opportunities in order to deliver value for the region.
    • Actively demonstrate the Newmont values of Safety, Integrity, Sustainability, Inclusion and responsibility at all times.

    Contracting Process Management

    • Provide information and reports on sensitive purchasing activities and progress on projects, including deviations from original contract.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Site Supply Chain Manager and Sourcing and Procurement Manager to verify that all contracts meet Newmont, local, state and national laws, rules and regulations.
    • Generate requests for pricing (RFP’s) which can be converted to Forward Purchase Agreement (FPA).
    • Execute Forward Purchase Agreements in a timely manner, which efficiently minimizes future labor and price for administering inventories.
    • Evaluate Forward Purchase Agreement (FPA) tenders and Request for Quotations (RFQs); with the ability to select the best value price and/or solution.
    • Conduct contractor meetings including pre-bid, pre-award, progress, performance, negotiation, and close-out for large complex contracts as required.
    • Negotiate changes in contract scope of work, prepare and execute change orders as needed.
    • Facilitate the Supplier Risk Management process.
    • Apply Newmont lifecycle procurement and contracting process in all procurement activities.

    Reporting and Analytics

    • Prepare procurement reports for management as required or requested.
    • Seek, develop and present market intelligence required for Newmont procurement process.

    Haul Truck Operator

    About This Role

    • To operate haul truck at Newmont to deliver on the daily operational targets, in a safe and controlled manner.

    In This Role You Will

    Haul Truck Pre-Shift and On-Shift Activities

    • Attend all pre-shift instruction meetings.
    • Communicate with and receive instruction from the Mine Operations Shift Supervisor and follow the specified instruction and daily haul plan, prior to the execution of activities.
    • Know the truck assigned and the designated location that the truck needs to be driven to.
    • Perform pre-start inspections of truck and accessories such as tyres, lights, turn signals, and brakes.
    • Inspect the truck cabin and ensure that all switches are operational.
    • Signal Dispatcher on the two-way communication radio to inform of any detected truck defects or issues.
    • Follow laid-down starting procedures and instructions on the truck screen.
    • Report and escalate all accidents and incidents occurring in the shift immediately to the Dispatcher / Supervisor.
    • Report any potential ore or material spillages to the Dispatcher / Supervisor with immediate effect.
    • Raise any truck malfunctions or service requirements to the Supervisor at the before, during or after the shift.
    • Meet and / or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
    • Assist in developing peers to perform hauling duties.
    • Perform other related activities, as assigned by the Supervisor.
    • Follow truck assignments via jigsaw panel.

    Ore and Material Haulage

    • Operate and drive heavy haul trucks to transport materials.
    • Remain responsible for the collection and haulage of ore from loading point to dumping destination, at the correct site locations.
    • Maintain the highest level of production possible by positioning for double side loading.
    • Drive to and from the pit in a safe, slow and controlled manner.
    • Confirm that ore and other material is properly hauled according to safety requirements.
    • Verify that the material transported (i.e. ore or waste) is correct(misroute).
    • Signal the Dispatcher / Supervisor if there is any material discrepancy.

    Haul Truck Post-Shift Handover

    • Communicate and provide work status handovers to incoming Haul Truck Operator.
    • Communicate with the Dispatcher regarding hazards encountered to provide sufficient information to the incoming Operators for the smooth running of operations.

    Stakeholder Management and Engagement

    • Communicate with Dispatcher and other Haul Truck Operators using communication devices such as twoway radios and / or on-board computers.
    • Ensure shift work meets established statutory standards.

    Health and Safety Management

    • Follow all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
    • Operate in a safe manner and take steps to prevent minimal wear and tear and/or damage to equipment.
    • Work without risk or harm to others.
    • Inspect work areas and ensure all areas comply with internal Newmont and external regulatory standards.
    • Adhere strictly to internal Newmont water management and dewatering standards.
    • Comply with safe dewatering procedures.
    • Maintain a strong focus of safety throughout all activities.

    • Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience working with Code E Vehicles in a mining and heavy industry environment.

    • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.
      • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
      • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit at a desk for extended periods, climb stairs, walk and stand.
      • Work Environment: The noise level in the field environment is minimal. Occasional exposure to noise, fumes, high temperature, sharp edges, dust, pinch points, vibration, slippery surfaces, extreme weather conditions.
      • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Work requires mandatory PPE such as helmet, goggles, high visible clothing, safety harness, ear plugs and dust mask according to working conditions.
      • Incumbent occasionally has to work overtime.
