    Mine Maintenance Electrician

    About The Job

    About This Role

    • To conduct electrical maintenance, deployment, troubleshooting, replacement, repair, and testing of electrical equipment and systems on drills, shovels and support equipment, according to electrical codes, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and safety standards to ensure equipment availability and optimal mining operations and production.

    In This Role You Will
    Electrical Maintenance:

    • Perform preventive maintenance routines and inspections.
    • Generate a work order before the remedial or repair work is carried out.
    • Raise a job card for work to be carried out, if any problems are identified.
    • Attend to items on the maintenance planning schedule, as and when required.
    • Accomplish work objectives by determining own work schedule, coordinate with support services.

    Troubleshoot technical and / or operational problems:

    • Perform installations, maintenance and repair activities, in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
    • Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment, and ensure effective functioning, including but not limited to maintenance of drills, shovel and support equipment.
    • Perform a variety of other maintenance tasks, such as electrical preventive maintenance.
    • Confirm that tag-outs / lock-outs are in place when disconnecting / connecting and removing electrical components.

    Attend to equipment breakdowns:

    • Provide information with regards to maintaining sufficient spare availability and stock levels.
    • Assist specialists in making more complex repairs.
    • Work within established procedures and operating manuals, as set out by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and best practice.
    • Check that daily and rotational quality targets are achieved, including First Stop After Preventive Maintenance (FSAPM), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repairs (MTTR).

    Troubleshooting:

    • Carry out daily inspections and record all findings.
    • Check all malfunctioned electrical systems, and conduct root cause analysis in order to diagnose whether to repair or replace.
    • Analyze specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and in accordance with local codes.
    • Strive to reduce downtime and minimize costs.

    Reporting:

    • Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
    • Produce daily reports indicating the jobs for the day and submit the report to the Supervisor.

    Health, Safety and Environment:

    • Deliver on prescribed outcomes and / or provide support services, by applying Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and protocols.
    • Inspect the equipment to check and identify any electrical and basic mechanical risks.
    • Attend all safety meetings.

    Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist
    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Electrical Engineering Technician certificate.
    • Electrical Trade training, apprenticeship.
    • MINCOM certified as Inspection Engineer is an advantage.

    About This Role

    • To provide safe, environmentally compliant and cost-effective maintenance welding, line boring, machining and fabrication services, to contribute to optimum equipment availability and achievement of production objectives.

    In This Role You Will:

    • Fabrication, Line Boring and Maintenance Welding
    • Work from engineering drawings, sketches, other specifications as well as verbal instructions.
    • Select appropriate welding equipment such as gas torches, portable electric arcs and semi-automatic and automatic machines and select appropriate electrode for material.
    • Set up and adjust equipment and controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage or amperage.
    • Work within strict quality standards and tolerance measures to support the function in terms of quality assurance.
    • Repair and overhaul heavy mobile mining equipment both in field and workshop based using a portable line boring machine.
    • Undertake welding repairs to facilitate line boring activities.
    • Use measuring gear to precisely measure pins and bores.
    • Set up and operate line boring equipment and radial drill press.
    • Make and sharpen cutting tools.
    • Conduct Non Destructive Testing (NDT) of haul truck beds, shovel buckets, track frames for internal cracks and prepare report for reliability engineer.
    • Use drill press machine to drill and tap handling holes on die-sets and other hole forming operations.
    • Supervise and train new employee's on how to run weld machinery, line boring equipment and also drill and press machinery.
    • Use workshop press to perform pressing activities safely (bushing installation and removal, straightening bent metal plates, etc.).
    • Work with minimal supervision.
    • Use SAP to raise and close work orders, entering time confirmations.

    Reporting:

    • Produce daily reports indicating the jobs for the day and submit the report to the Supervisor.
    • Work Scheduling and Allocation:
    • Accomplish work objectives by determining own work schedule, coordinate with support services and assign short-term tasks to Mechanics / Electricians or the Supervisor as necessary.

    Administrative Assistant

    • To provide administrative support to the General administration/Support function teams by effectively managing and performing a wide variety of administrative duties.

    In This Role You Will
    General Administration:

    • Liaise with the Support function teams,’ and vendors in assisting in events organizing (i.e. VIP visits, Regulators, Inter-mine Safety Competitions etc.).
    • Arrange meetings and conferences; including preparing agendas and minutes for same.
    • Collates and follow up on routine task assignment for internal and external meetings.

    • Consolidate Monthly/Quarterly/Annual copying, binding of Statutory Reports and correspondences for external government agencies.
