    Midwives, Bole & Yendi

    The two Capacity-Building Midwives will contribute to the successful strengthening of the public sector in line with the Evolving model strategy and values of MSIG, as welt as the goals of sustainability in accordance with the country’s national Policy. The midwives will be primarily responsible for providing supportive clinical quality supervision and focused clinical trainings and mentoring to the selected public facilities in the assigned regions of work. One midwife will be based in Bole im the Savanna Region and the other in Yendi in the Northern Region but with travel to service delivery points in support of quality assurance through monitoring, mentoring and clinical training of public sector strengthening teams. The Capacity-Building Teams (CBTs) Midwives will report to the Regional Manager in the regions of operation. The CBT Drivers will report to the Midwives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the capacity-building team in identifying health facilities in target areas for Service delivery
    • Create, nurture and maintain a good working relationship with GHS, opinion leaders, police and local partner organisations for effective collaboration.
    • Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients’ special needs such as flexibility on working hours, strict privacy and confidentiality to generate demand for MSIG/GHS services
    • Identify appropriate training needs within your team and, in consultation with the Regionalmanager, arrange for appropriate trainings and induction of new team members.
    • Timely collate and submit incident reports to the Regional manager and Director of MDT.
    • Monitor monthly team results and in collaboration with the Regional manager,make appropriate recommendations to meet set targets.
    • Support GHS providers to build capacity in Clinical services, including IUCD, Implant insertion and removal.
    • Professional management of client complaints and/or clinical incidents on Site
    • Support GHS providers to adhere strictly to all GHS/MSI clinical quality standards to achieve the highest score in all QTA activities
    • Ensure formal communications with the various health partners are properly documented
    • Develop monthly CBT site schedule and submit same to GHS before visit
    • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the Regional Manager\

    Qualifications:

    • Must have a recognised clinical qualification in Midwifery
    • Must be registered with a recognised local professional body in Ghana and of good standing
    • Must have requisite experience to work with minimum supervision

    Skills and Experience:

    • At least One (1) year post-graduation experience in a Midwifery position
    • Experience Of working in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Excellent provider-client interaction skills
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Work experience With Ghana Health Service and/or an INGO
    • Articulate and analytical with attention to detail
    • Knowledge of health delivery system in Ghana
    • Must be multi-skilled and able to work with minimum supervision.
    • Sympathetic to women and men seeking Family Planning and Reproductive Health services
    • Be able to work on own initiative and for longer periods.
    • Customer-focused with good interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels —government, donor and community

    Regional Manager, Northern Sector

    Marie Stopes International Ghana (MSIG) seeks an experienced senior manager for the role of Regional Manager (RM). who will be responsible for the overall leadership in the northern sector, including delivery of results (e.g. annual business plan, donor projects and other initiatives), team member motivation and capacity building; strategic relationships with government and other stakeholders (e.g. private providers and NGOs); and developing funding opportunities. The

    Regional Manager is responsible for MSIG regional office, clinics. Bluestar-branded social franchise network of private providers, public sector capacity-building facilities, social marketing of health products and donor project activities in his/her territory. He/she will be based in the MSIG regional office in Tamale, but will oversee programme activity in the Northern, Savanna,  North East. Upper East and Upper West regions and requires frequent travel within Ghana.

    The role will report to the Director of Regional Operations.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the Director of Regional Operations to identify new funding opportunities.
    • Lead the development and implementation Of high quality proposals
    • Provide leadership, guidance and planning to support regional team members; balance delegation with appropriate hands-on management.
    • Develop a clear annual (regional) implementation plan in consultation with technical and project leads from the Accra support office and with input from the regional team.
    • Provide oversight and guidance to partner NGOs and closely monitor results and outputs; ensure that all partnership agreements with NGOs and other external service providers are properly executed and achieve desired outcomes.
    • Work with support office teams and senior management team to strengthen existing systems to improve MSIG’S regionalised structure (e.g. stores, finance. MIS, reporting. etc).
    • Ensure smooth running Of the regional office; provide good documentation and maintain accurate and up-to-date regional office files.
    • Conduct regular supervisory visits with appropriate follow up
    • Develop and set team goals. strategies and work plans that are fully aligned with the MSIG goals, business plan and thew individual job framework.
    • Ensure effective communication between the regional office and the support office in Accrawith respect to technical issues and project activities; participate actively in MSIG workshops and events as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in health. demography, public health or social sciences/development studies
    • Master’s degree in a related field

    Experience/Skills

    The candidate must have;

    • At least seven (7) years of post-graduate relevant work experience with at least three (3) years of experience in a significant management position
    • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing and motivating teams; experience in managing both medical and non-medical team members
    • Experience in managing project life cycles (representation, project design, activity implementation, budget/results management, reporting, evaluation and negotiating adjustments)
    • Experience managing budgets; experience with procurement and logistics; experience in setting up new offices/systems desired
    • Demonstrated skill in networking and working in partnership With others (internal and external stakeholders) to achieve results; experience working with NGOs and government implementation partners; experience in working with GHS highly desired
    • Demonstrated experience in working across teams with a track record of achieving both financial and non-financial targets
    • Demonstrated experience in successfully launching new projects and activities and then building and maintaining momentum
    • Demonstrated experience in networking and working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results.
    • Strong leadership, negotiation, influencing and conflict management skills
    • Experience working with INGOs and government as implementation partners and with Ghana Health Service – highly desired.
    • Experience in working with both public and private health sectors.
    • Experience working in health, sexual and reproductive health in particular
    • Passionate about field work and enjoy travelling

    Drivers

    To ensure that assigned are in good working conditions at all times and to assist the vehicle to attain high standard quality care at all time.  To also ensure that high driving standards are exhibited in the community. among learns and wherever driving required. The Driver will report to the Fleet Officer and the CBT Midwife.

    One driver will be based in Bole in the Savanna Region and the other in Yendi in the Northern region.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Support the CBT Midwife to be able to attain high standard vehicle quality care at all times.
    • Check that vehicle is fuelled and in proper running condition before use.
    • Pick and drop project visitors at the designated areas,
    • Ensure vehicles are in good working conditions at all times.
    • Report all damages to Fleet Officer for necessary action,
    • Channel all requests for repairs. maintenance and through the Officer
    • Keep daily record of vehicle mileage.
    • Responsible the daily maintenance of vehicle allocated.
    • Return vehicle to head office, clinic or designated location immediately after
    • Assist clinical team in providing service.
    • Support in community mobilisation
    • Support CBT Midwife in registration of clients
    • Ensure formal communications with the various health partners are properly documented with administrative work when necev,ary
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned bv Midwife and / or Fleet Officer

    Qualifications:

    • Must have a minimum of MSLC /BECE certificate.
    • Knowledge in auto mechanic will be an advantage
    • knowledge and skills in computer application such as Microsoft Word. Excel, Power Point etc.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Good interpersonal
    • Fair written and verbal communication
    • Must have in vehicle care and maintenance
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, excel, power point),
    • Work experionce with Ghana Health Service and/ or a health-related NGO
