    Central Control Room Supervisor – Surface Mine Infrastructure

    • The Central Control Room Supervisor – Surface Mine Infrastructure is accountable for the monitoring and control of output of the Surface Mine Central Control Room refurbishment team to standard, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the CIC Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure for reporting performance.
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Central Control Room infrastructure during refurbishment, later maintenance
    • Conduct reviews of the refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Central Control Room to identify actions for continuous improvement
    • Assist the CIC Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, various detailed quality audits during Central Control Room creation as designated in the Infrastructure Plan;
    • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc) to determine control infrastructure condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of Central Control Room assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Central Control Room equipment as per requirements.
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment work contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays
    • Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics/Communications Supervision, or equivalent
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses.

    Experience 

    • An experienced electronics/instrumentation maintenance Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, Mine Infrastructure maintenance
    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts management (MARC)
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess Supervisory Managers Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana
    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong control room operations/maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about

    Winder Engine Driver

    The Winder Engine Driver is accountable for operating hoists and cage winders compliant with LI2182, safely, in accordance with other compliance requirements, operational and standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Operate / Drive Winder (Man & Rock) in Compliance with LI2182 (Adansi – 3, GCS-3, BSVS-3, KMS-3, KRS-3)
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Winding equipment in area of operation and report
    • Identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured
    • Organize information for the Senior Winder Driver to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute daily work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, motor current and flux data collection
    • Report any anomalies to Senior Winder Driver for the generation of work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Carry out daily pre-start and/or shift handover checks and complete check sheets as required according to the established schedules and also per plant requirements.
    • Complete shift short interval control sheets as required
    • Monitor operating parameters on the integrated control system and take corrective action as indicated or required
    • Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure to Senior Winder Driver
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and report to Senior Winder Driver

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Secondary Education

    Experience 

    • An experienced Winder Driver with 5+ years’ experience in underground mining

    Legal Requirement

    • Winder Engine Driver’s certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines in accordance with LI2182

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Winder Operations competencies in underground mining
    • Excellent knowledge of requirements of LI2182
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing

    Electrical Technician – Winders

    The Electrical Technician – Winders is accountable for carrying out maintenance on Winders, Winder Houses lighting , Signals and shaft Bank Areas, Dewatering and Conveyors (shift – 3, regular – 5) in a safe and compliant manner (with particular regard to LI2182) as instructed during refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Winding operation.
    The work is to be executed in accordance with detailed tasking in accordance with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work compliantly with the requirement of Government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health & safety legislation and AGAG regulation
    • Accept personal responsibility for his own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work
    • Interface with Contractors as directed and/or Construction teams regarding mechanical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
    • Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required
    • Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked – compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG with particular regard to LI2182
    • Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools prior to leaving workshop. Escalate and report any anomalies
    • Assess all equipment required for completion of the tasked work, create checklist and transport all tools necessary for task completion
    • Recognise any machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies that would indicate requirements for maintenance, report and escalate.
    • Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of the tasked work for all process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
    • Carry out work in a cost effective manner
    • Execute work in a timely manner
    • Operate all equipment within the safe working envelope and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure
    • Report and escalate directly to the Winder Electrical Supervisor on issues recognized
    • Stop equipment operation if there exist a high risk or unsafe to be used

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Secondary education level
    • Certificate of successful completion of respected mechanical trade apprenticeship (example: City and Guilds)

    Experience 

    • Five (5) years of experience of post-apprenticeship work in an electrical trade working on Winding equipment
    • Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation

    Legal Requirement

    • Electrical certificate for compliance under LI2182

    Technical Competencies

    • Fully literate and numerate
    • Fully competent in electrical trade
