    Primary School Teacher

    Main Purpose

    • To carry out the professional duties of a class teacher in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the Head teacher.
    • To be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional development and has students who achieve well.
    • Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with all stakeholders in the best interests of pupils
    • Act within, the statutory frameworks, which set out their professional duties and responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To carry out the duties of a schoolteacher as set out in the school’s teacher handbook and have due regard to the school’s Teacher Standards. The Successful Applicant will:

    Teaching

    • Plan collaboratively alongside the Year Group team to provide an engaging and exciting curriculum.
    • Evaluate and reflect on learning outcomes for the pupils.
    • Use a range of teaching styles which promote a love of learning.
    • Present the curriculum in a stimulating and interesting manner, being positive and encouraging to pupils and valuing each child’s contribution.
    • Differentiate the curriculum appropriately according to the individual pupils.
    • Use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent sessions.
    • Give parents and pupils regular feedback, both orally and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback.
    • Provide an engaging, stimulating and challenging environment that reflects children’s learning
    • Monitor and organize classroom resources to promote independent learning and keep them in a good state of repair.
    • Promote the development and emotional well-being of pupils.

    Working with colleagues

    • Plan and work collaboratively and support colleagues.
    • Communicate with colleagues regarding the progress and well-being of children to ensure continuity.
    • Work as closely as possible with parents and other stakeholders
    • Willingness to work as part of a team in all areas of school life

    Work within the school

    • Act in a professional manner at all times.
    • Make children aware of their role in the wider caring community.
    • Attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings and any curriculum meetings as part of directed time.
    • Attend year team/phase meetings
    • Be actively involved in behaviour management, both inside and outside the classroom in accordance with school policy
    • Do playground/outside provision duty
    • Take assemblies (when appropriate)
    • Liaise with any necessary external agencies
    • Keep abreast of current educational developments and review their own performance from time to time
    • Participate in arrangements for the appraisal of your performance and that of other teachers
    • Accept your right and responsibility for professional development, attending any appropriate courses
    • Be aware of the safety and welfare of the children

    Curriculum maintenance

    • Work with colleagues in a School Development/Teaching and Learning team
    • Take responsibility for stock maintenance, resourcing and developing particular curriculum areas

    Required Skills or Experience

    Teaching

    • Commitment to the highest standards of educational and pastoral care for all children.
    • Strong knowledge of child development and the need for continuity and progression
    • Willingness to teach across the primary age range
    • Relevant teaching qualification
    • Experience of Primary teaching
    • Be confident in the use of ICT
    • Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities
    • Ability to listen and respond to the needs of children
    • Ability to inspire children

    Librarian

    We are looking to recruit a qualified Librarian to manage the school library.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide termly reports on the status of books and make recommendations to the heads of school and management.
    • Categorize books and resource materials by standardized classification systems.
    • Ascertain students’ needs and assist their efforts in locating information.
    • Collaborate with teachers to ensure that materials needed for school work are available.
    • Prepare book orders in consultation with the heads of school at the end of each term and/or academic year.
    • Act as the main link between the school and book suppliers.
    • Organize book fairs for all departments of the school.

    Required Skills or Experience

    • A good honours degree in Librarianship or related course.
    • Experience in effective and total management of a school library.
    • Proven ability in promoting reading among pupils and students.
    • Ability to use current resources available to upgrade the library to an international standard.
    • Be able to develop a tracking system to ensure that no book belonging to the school is misplaced or kept in a student’s home beyond approved period.
    • Be able to provide detailed record-keeping of all books and resources in the library.
    • A strong and positive work ethic and a responsible attitude to working with children.

    Science And Mathematics Teacher

    We are looking to recruit a qualified teacher for the position of Science and Mathematics Teacher in the secondary school department.

    Required Skills or Experience

    The ideal candidate for this position would hold an honours degree in Science or a related course from a recognized University. An additional qualification in education is desirable but not essential. Must be able to teach three Science and Mathematics related subjects.

    • The prospective candidate for this position must have the following skills and experience:

    • A good honours degree in Science and Mathematics or a related course.
    • Ability to teach at least three Science and Mathematics related subjects.
    • A commitment to work with children in a child-centered school.
    •  Some teaching experience in any learning environment for children and young adults will be desirable.
    • Some experience or knowledge of teaching the Cambridge International Education curriculum will be desirable.
    • A good communicator ready to be an excellent role model for children.
    • Very strong ICT skills; ability to use ICT as the central tool in the delivery of all lessons.
    • Strong knowledge in how to conduct scientific research and analysis of scientific data is essential.
    • Ability to create opportunities to encourage students to learn and participate in science is desired.
    • Must be able to proactively organize STEM extra curricula activities to create opportunities for students to apply scientific knowledge.
    • Ability to work in a proactive manner, able to make quick decisions, prioritize tasks and willing to embark on continuous professional development.
    • Competent team player, able to work together with other members of the department and other members of the school community.
    • Able to work under pressure to meet all deadlines with regard to reports and Medium Term Plans.
    • A strong and positive work ethic and a responsible attitude to working with children.
