    Process Control Technician

    To conduct the safe troubleshooting, replacement, repair, testing and general maintenance of electrical and instrumentation production equipment and systems, according to electrical codes and specifications, to optimize plant processing and production.

    Essential Duties
    Electrical Maintenance

    •     Execute on electrical maintenance tasks for completion, arising out of schedules received from the C & I Supervisor.
    •     Conduct daily work planning around STP’s, JHA/FLRA
    •     Identify, resolve, and correct detected C & I faults and defects in equipment.
    •     Troubleshoot technical and/or operational problems.
    •     Conduct in-depth investigations into faults affecting equipment operations and process flows.
    •     Diagnose and repair electrical power and control systems, AC V/S drives, and associated electrical equipment.
    •     Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment, in line with approved maintenance standards.
    •     Perform a variety of other maintenance tasks, including predictive and preventative electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
    •     Perform installations, maintenance, and repair activities, in accordance with OEM specifications.
    •     Read and utilize electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, and circuit diagrams.
    •     Utilize hand tools, portable electrical tools, and maintenance shop equipment safely and effectively.
    •     Test repaired equipment to determine the extent of effective functioning, including but not limited to maintenance of MCC’s, motors, and drives.
    •     Confirm that tag-outs / lock-outs are in place when disconnecting/connecting and removing electrical motors.
    •     Monitor substations in the plant and carry out any maintenance procedures.
    •     Attend to breakdowns and power outages.
    •     Maintain sufficient spare availability and stock levels.
    •     Contribute to the development of Standard Task Procedures (STP’s).
    •     Strive to reduce downtime and minimize costs.

    Reporting

    •     Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
    •     Compile reports on field observations and factor results in weekly/fortnightly planning.

    Solutions Analysis

    •     Examine all malfunctioned electronics and machines and diagnose whether to fix or replace them.
    •     Analyze specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications and in accordance with local codes
    •     Provide a hands-on solution for electrical faults and defects to equipment and machinery
    •     Produce daily reports indicating the jobs completed for the day and submit the report to the C & I Supervisor.

    Work Scheduling and Allocation

    •     Accomplish work objectives by determining own daily work and prioritization schedule.
    •     Coordinate with support services and other Technicians, as necessary

    Training & Experience

    • Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
    •     Diploma or relevant certification in Electrical Engineering.
    •     Electrical Trade Test Certificate.

    Additional Knowledge:

    •     Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes.
    •     Strong knowledge of process instrumentation.
    •     Sound knowledge of electrical maintenance principles and industry standards.
    •     Knowledge of the work management process.
    •     Knowledge of planning and scheduling.

    Experience: 

    •     Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ electrical maintenance experience in a mining plant/process environment.
    •     Wide-ranging experience across various voltage electrical works – extra-low, low, and high.

    Technical Skills:

    •     Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
    •     Sound communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    •     Sound computer literacy skills (SAP, MS Word, Outlook, and other Windows applications).
    •     Ability to identify problems and to report by using technical names of equipment parts.
    •     Ability to develop/maintain electrical distribution, generation, and transmission systems and networks.
    •     Ability to correctly read power meters and record the readings accurately.
    •     Ability to manage the quality of operations, in accordance with the quality standards of the organization and international best practice.

    •     Work Environment: The employee is required to operate in a safety-critical environment with hazardous materials and potentially harmful/dangerous machinery and equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to noise more than 85 decibels, and high-temperature hazardous materials (chemicals and fumes during work at Reagent, CIL, and Elution), sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces, etc. The incumbent will regularly lift heavy materials and/or operate heavy machinery.
    •     Protective Equipment (PPE): Work requires mandatory PPE such as helmet, goggles, high visible clothing, safety harness, earplugs, and dust mask according to working conditions.

    Community Relations Officer

    • order to promote good community relationship and social acceptance in accordance with Newmont Stakeholder Management Standard.

    In This Role You Will:

    Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagements

    • Assemble, familiarize and implement Newmont policies, programs and management systems related to Stakeholder Engagement in Ahafo North.
    • Support the development and implementation of engagement strategies to enhance and maintain good relationships with Communities, local government and local NGOs to ensure maximum participation and cooperation in NGGL programs.
    • Carry out informal stakeholder expectation analysis and perceptions to inform management about threat and opportunities in the mine communities; and recommend appropriate engagement strategies to manage the situation.
    • Gather community intelligence that can threaten smooth operations of the mine and report to Sustainability and External Relations (S&ER) management.
    • Support the development and continuous update of stakeholders register for purposes of engagement.
    • Provide input for the development of stakeholder mapping that identifies differing stakeholders and their corresponding interests to guide effective stakeholder engagement.
    • Support the preparation and implementation of annual stakeholder engagement schedule.
    • Lead community entry processes for exploration activities.
    • Support the Complaints and Grievance and Conflict Resolution process.

    Ahafo North Social Responsibility Agreements Implementation

    • Assist in the implementation of Newmont Ahafo North commitments in the Local Employment, Relationship and Foundation Agreements.
    • Provide awareness to Communities about the content of the Ahafo North Social Responsibility Agreement related to Local Employment and Company/Community Relationships.
    • Assist in the confirmation of validation of local community members who apply for jobs.
    • Provide support in the identification and selection local community members for Newmont training programs.
    • Circulate to Communities all job opportunities in NGGL and Business Partners.

    Auditing and Reporting

    • Ensure proper records keeping in cintillate of all stakeholder engagements for easy retrieval.
    • Participate in all external social audit related to Community and Stakeholder engagement in the mine communities.
    • Collate all External Social Audit recommendations related to NGGL stakeholder engagements and public participation activities and prepare implementation plan for approval and execution.
    • Implement approved stakeholder engagement schedule and prepare “Issues and Response” Report for each engagement for management information.

    Safety

    • Report all incidents and accidents in the work group to enable management to identify areas for improvement in work practices.
    • Demonstrate leadership in safety and comply with Newmont Ghana HSLP policies and procedures that involve but are not limited to Safety inspections, Safety Training, Annual Refresher, Safety Talks, Incident Reporting and Investigation etc.
    • Present information accurately at safety/environment meetings.
