    Senior Planner

    Job Description

    • Understand all relevant documentation pertaining to the project including the scope of services, conditions of a contract, project execution plan, project schedule, key quantities, etc.
    • Work within standard project planning/scheduling procedures. Ensure that these procedures comply with contractual reporting requirements and, if not, modify accordingly.
    • Prepare activity plans to accomplish all the work required by the procedures.
    • Liaise with client project control personnel as necessary.
    • Timely preparation and issue of:
    • overall project schedule
    • project network
    • manpower projection plan
    • critical equipment lists/schedules
    • progress s-curves and tabulations
    • manhour/manpower histograms
    • short term look-ahead schedules
    • monthly progress report including narrative
    • Ensure that all involved parties participate in the preparation of items described in item 5 and that they agree to their respective elements and approve documents where necessary.
    • Maintain accurate schedule and control curves in an updated condition and prepare forecasts of trends.
    • To provide a planning/scheduling service (in accordance with contract execution procedures) to both project and corporate management for home office and external (i.e. field) activities.

    Requirements/Skills

    • A Diploma or BSc Engineering Degree or sufficient relevant experience in lieu of qualification requirements.
    • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience with at least 3 years of planning experience.
    • Experience in extractive industry preferred.
    • Must be a proficient user of MS Excel, MS Access and MS Word. Excellent Communication and Organisation Skills.

    Senior Cost Engineer

    Job Description

    • To provide a cost engineering service (in accordance with contract execution procedures) to both project and corporate management for home office and external (i.e. field) activities.
    • Demonstrates on-going commitment to all relevant QA requirements as published to the organisations Integrated Quality Management System.
    • Participates in internal and external audits, and responds with relevant corrective action.
    • Work within standard project cost engineering procedures.  Ensure that these procedures comply with contractual reporting requirements and, if not, modify accordingly.
    • Prepare activity plans to accomplish all the work required by the procedures.
    • Liaise with client project control personnel as necessary.
    • Prepare manhour, material quantity and cost budgets from the cost estimate and update them on approval of contract changes and budget transfers.
    • Obtain from operating groups, the latest information pertinent to cost analysis and ensure its accuracy and completeness.  Attend meetings concerning cost matters.
    • Maintain a comprehensive material and construction quantity control and reporting system to include the current status of the budget, material take-off and forecast quantities.
    • Prepare monthly cost reports with supporting narratives.
    • Prepare monthly Project Cost Report and associated back-up for review with Project Manager, HOD Cost Engineer and Project Controls Manager as necessary.
    • Audit of invoices and payment certificates prior to payment by either the client or company accounts.
    • Ensure reconciliation between project cost report and accounts cost and billing information.

    Requirements/Skills

    • A Diploma or BCom Degree in the finance, commerce, accounting field or sufficient relevant experience in lieu of qualification requirements.
    • A minimum of 5 years cost engineering experience with at least 3 years in extractive industry experience.
    • Must be a proficient user of MS Excel, MS Access and MS Word. Excellent Communication and Organisation Skills.
