    Process Maintenance General Foreman-Process Control

    About This Role

    • As the role holder you’ll draw on your strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain, co-ordinate and perform changes to Process Controls Systems to reduce unplanned equipment maintenance, increase reliability and availability of plant equipment and improve productivity and efficiency for the Newmont Ghana (Ahafo South).

    In This Role You Will

    • Efficiently lead and manage all project programming, software/hardware modifications.
    • Design and install/retrofit to existing systems.
    • Oversee that all modifications and programming changes are consistent with existing process control standards.
    • Examine and translate users' requirements and/or equipment related process control queries into appropriate and process control solutions, striving for efficiency throughout.
    • Determine suitable and automation methods.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance strategies based in RCM techniques, budgets and plans to deliver optimum Process Plant availability.
    • Lead in PLC & SCADA programming changes, including associated networked equipment as well as conduct operational implementation and roll - out of PLC and SCADA.
    • Lead all aspects of the completion of all tasks identified in the Ahafo MOS to the specified quality and timeliness, as assigned to this role.
    • Build and develop a competent maintenance team capable of carrying out needed programming and / or engineering initiatives.
    • Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.
    • Participating in interviews of prospective employees, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity.
    • Motivating teams in fostering a solid team atmosphere, while maintaining a safe and disciplined work environment.
    • You will also have other responsibilities and tasks in line with the role of a Process Maintenance Foreman.

    Your Training Skills and Experience Checklist

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Process Control/Instrumentation Engineering.
    • Mineral Commission Engineering Superintendent Certificate of Competency.
    • Minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in a process control in mining environment
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a programming environment using Allen Bradley and/or SLC, as well as programmable logic controllers
    • Advanced knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
    • Strong knowledge of the work management process. 
    • Knowledge of Asset Management principles and practice.
    • Advanced knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
    • Advanced knowledge of maintenance plant equipment.
    • Advanced knowledge of and experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance programs.
    • Advanced knowledge of and experience in the maintenance of High Voltage power distribution lines, electrical equipment and emergency power generators.
    • Strong knowledge in interpreting electrical engineering drawings and P&IDs
    • Strong knowledge of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and the environment for the mining industry.
    • Strong working knowledge in PLC and SCADA control systems.
    • Strong working knowledge in maintenance planning systems – SAP

    Working Conditions

    Position is located in a very remote location. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.

    • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
    • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit at a desk for extended periods, climb stairs, walk and stand.
    • Work Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is minimal. 
    • Occasional exposure to noise, fumes high temperature hazardous materials, sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces etc.
    • Protective Equipment (PPE): Work requires mandatory PPE such as helmet, goggles, high visible clothing, safety harness, ear plugs and dust mask according to working conditions.

    Blasting Supervisor

    Purpose

    To coordinate, direct and lend technical support to all on-site blasting activities, in a safe manner, and coordinate resource allocations to effectively complete the activities

    Essential Duties

    • Execute and oversee short & long-term mine blasting plans.
    • Send all blasting requisition requests to the General Foreman for review and obtain sign-off from both the General Foreman and Mine Manager
    • Schedule & supervise all blasting activities, by overseeing and evaluating works-in-progress and assure that all activities meet specifications, codes and regulations.
    • Provide technical guidance and transfer of knowledge to the blast crew through active coaching and mentoring.
    • Analyze daily blasting production and cost data to confirm that the department is operating within overall blasting production and budget forecasts.
    • Assess and continually improve current blast processes.
    • Report  all accidents and incidents occurring in the shift to the General Foreman – Drill and Blast
    • Liaise with the Training Department to arrange the receipt of training schedules and times for the national workforce.
    • Adhere strictly to internal Newmont health and safety standards.
    • Liaise with various Ghanaian government authorities to assure that all national codes and standards are met and complied with in assigned blasting activities.

    Training & Experience

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Mine / Civil Engineering, Geology
    • Mine Foreman Certificate.
    • Knowledge of various explosive types and blasting accessories.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 4 years’ blasting experience in large open pit mining environments, of which at least 2 years’ experience should be in a shift supervisory capacity.
    • Experience in electronic detonation.

    Technical Skills:

    • Advanced planning, organizing and management skills.
    • Strong technical communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong computer literacy skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), MS Project.
