    Principal TVET

    REF: VV/UU/014/2022

    QUALIFICATION

    • Be a Kenyan citizen
    • Have a bachelor’s degree in Technology Education from a university recognized in Kenya in any of the following 
    • disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Applied Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Textiles/Clothing 
    • Technology, Chemical Technology, Catering or Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship 
    • plus a Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.
    • Possession of a Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage or a PhD degree in addition to the 
    • above qualifications is an added advantage.
    • Have vast knowledge and experience in any relevant field of TVET for not less than 10 years, 5 years of which 
    • should be in a management position.
    • Demonstrate high standards of professional competence and ability in the management of Technical and Vocational 

    Education and Training.

    • Possess a good understanding of national and international trends and policies in Technical and Vocational 
    • Education and Training and its role in the context of Vision 2030
    • Possess a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
    • Be a member of a relevant professional body.
    • Have a strong financial management orientation;
    • Have good planning and organizing skills and have ability to exercise sound judgement.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
    • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft applications;
    • Self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Willingness to go the extra mile.
    • Master’s Degree in the relevant field
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication/Marketing or equivalent from recognized institution.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • In charge of the administration of the Institution, through the provision of leadership in ensuring implementation and 
    • execution of the Institution’s mandate in accordance to Government policies and programs in TVET.
    • Liaising with stakeholders on matters about the management of Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
    • Promoting collaborations, linkages, and agreements to promote TVET institutions and programs, both locally and globally.
    • Supervising the curriculum development and implementation in the institution through innovations geared towards optimal utilization of resources available.
    • Initiating processes for resource mobilization for the development of the institution’s infrastructure, acquisition of equipment and instructional materials.
    • Developing of quality assurance system that ensures high standards of TVET training is achieved.
    • Facilitating and promoting entrepreneurship and industrial incubation in technical training through the engagement of income-generating activities.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage the TVET Institute under the guidance of Umma University Industry Advisory Board; 
    • Monitor the conduct of education and training at the Institute by the provisions of the TVET Act and any other regulatory guidelines;

    • Promote and maintain standards, quality and relevance in education and training at the Institute;
    • Implement policies at the TVET Institute;
    • Initiate the development of and implement the Institute’s strategic plan;
    • Develop and review CBET programmes for training and make representations thereon to the Board;
    • Liaise with Human Resource Department in the recruitment and appointment of instructors/trainers from among 
    • qualified professionals and practicing tradespersons in relevant sectors of industry
    • Undertake fundraising and resource mobilization for the Institute;
    • Market and promote TVET activities through workshops, seminars and conferences, and fairs;
    • Promote research and innovation in the TVET sub-sector;
    • Initiate collaboration or association with other institutions and industries in and outside Kenya subject to prior 
    • approval by the TVET Board;
    • Prepare annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the Institute;
    • Prepare comprehensive annual reports on all areas of their mandate, including education and training services and 
    • submit the same to the TVET Board; 
    • Oversee the welfare of the students and staff at the Institute.

    Human Resource Manager

    QUALIFICATION

    • Must have a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management.
    • Must be a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)
    • Must have at least 6 years’ experience in a Human Resource office.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Provision of leadership for Human Resources Strategic Planning by collecting, analyzing and identifying current and future Human Resources needs within the University.

    • A minimum of forty-eight (48) equivalent publication points as senior lecturer or equivalent, of which at least thirty-two (32) should be from referred scholarly journal.

    SENIOR LECTURER

    • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the

    • At least three (3) years teaching experience as lecturer or six (6) years research/industry experience.
    • A minimum of thirty-two (32) equivalent publication points as a lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four
    • (24) should be from referred scholarly journal.
    • Supervised a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a lecturer or equivalent.
    • Registered with the relevant professional body.

    LECTURERS

    • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from accredited and recognized university

    Stores Clerk

    QUALIFICATION

    • Diploma in Procurement and Supplies or related field.
    • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in store control.
    • Ability to maintain high level of cleanliness and orderliness in store.
    • Knowledge of proper bookkeeping and inventory management
    • Energetic: The job of a stores clerk requires some physical labor, so it is vital that they can lift 25KG unaided
    • Computer Skills: Applicants are required to have some computer skills to work with computerized inventory system and data entry skills

    • Communication Skills: They need great written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with others and maintain appropriate

    • Customer Service Skills: The role of a stores clerk is a client-facing role. Applicants may be required to interface with suppliers and 
    • customers, so it is vital that they have a customer-orientation, which is necessary for identifying customer needs, retaining customer, and

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Take delivery of all incoming materials and reconcile with purchase orders
    • Track, document, and resolve any discrepancies on received orders
    • Ensure accuracy of the facility’s inventory system by updating records of physical inventory totals, receipts, adjustments, and returns
    • Manage inventory/supplies and ensure they are within the established minimum and maximum levels
    • Keep up-to-date records of receipts, records, and withdrawals from the stockroom
    • Responsible for packing, pricing, labeling, and returning supplies
    • Responsible for stock rotation and coordinate the disposal of surpluses
    • Oversee the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, and minor repairs
    • Manage supplier relations and database as well as maintain high ethical relationships both internally and externally
    • Create purchase orders and utilize purchasing card to perform low-value procurement activities
    • Responsible for shipping cancelled or damaged items back to suppliers as appropriate.
    • Resolve issues/problems related to delivered goods; Prepare and signs Return to Vendor forms for unacceptable and/or damaged 
    • goods received.
    • Maintaining an automated supply inventory database; updating database of materials, supplies and equipment at the University store.
    • Generating related reports to verify inventory levels and determining re- order activity and usage rates at the University store.
    • Ensure smooth operation at the University Store including, cataloguing and tagging of the University Assets; Efficient distributions of materials to user departments and general store keeping.
    • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
