    Commercial Analyst Intern (with Francophone Capability)

    We are motivated by an ambitious purpose and are inspired by the exceptional people that we work with. As such, we are looking for a Commercial Analyst Intern (Francophone) to join the Africa Commercial Team. This position can be based in Cape Town or our West Africa HQ (Accra). It will report to the Head of Commercial Planning & Analytics // Africa. This will be a paid internship. We are ideally looking for an individual that can commit for a period of 12 months.

    Job Purpose

    Support and lead the execution of early commercial operations (incl. strategic partnership support, business case development, product launch etc.) in JUMO’s Francophone territories

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support country-based initiative management & execution for ongoing, high-priority commercial initiatives
    • Support commercial operations reporting and communication
    • Support in Francophone stakeholder relationship management, incl. production of quantitative models / presentation materials

     

    Capabilities

    Excellent Business & Strategy Skills

    • Experience supporting scope of operations within a regional implementation model or operating company (particularly with a focus in French or Francophone markets)
    • Strong business acumen, including comfort or experience with business development initiatives, commercial discussions, and commercial strategy
    • Data synthesis, modelling and interpretation experience (particularly in client- or partner-facing contexts)

    Exceptional Communication and Storytelling Skills

    • Ability to synthesize findings in reports and present them in a way that is compelling to the audience (language, delivery, visual presentation)
    • Previous experience with making key stakeholder materials (investor presentations, due diligence materials, strategy or product pitches, business cases)

    Strategic and Tactical Operational Skills

    • Ability to handle both big-picture thinking and day-to-day operations
    • Previous exposure to multi-faceted / at-large roles: as a key initial member of JUMO’s Francophone West Africa team, you will need to be able to seamlessly switch between different types of tasks
    • Able to identify appropriate tools and methodologies to improve effectiveness and efficiency of customer insight development and customer experience

    Requirements

    • Able to intern for at least 12 consecutive months and on a full-time basis during the internship period
    • Studying towards / Completed a Masters, preferably in:
      • Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics or related commercial discipline
    • 2 – 3 years in strategy/management consulting, investment banking, or private equity is preferable
    • Excellent report-writing and presentation, both verbally and visually (including data visualization)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (required) and SQL (preferable)
    • Fluency in more than one language (French required, other African business languages highly preferable)
    • Experience in financial services, e-commerce, or the mobile industry would be an advantage
    • Experience in analytical roles (involving customer research, customer satisfaction/ loyalty, customer experience, market research, marketing analytics, text analytics, segmentation etc.) is desirable.
