    Fleet Officer/ Driver

    Fleet Officer/ Driver Overview

    The Company driver/ Fleet Officer is responsible for conveying materials, equipment, and staff of the organization to the areas where they are required. The driver should be energetic, personable and safe, must be open to meeting people and be deeply familiar with area nuances, such as back roads and traffic patterns.Driver who is energetic, personable and safe. The Driver will assist Farmerline to their mission of connecting smallholders to information, input finance and vital resources by providing safe driving support to the Farmer Services team.

    Responsibilities

    Driving

    • Drive vehicle for field workshops, input distribution, official travel assignments
    • Maintain high standard of service to both internal and external persons related to field activities.
    • Ensure smooth and timely distribution of Farmerline product and services.
    • Ensure punctuality and safe transport at all times.
    • Observing the road and traffic laws and regulations in Ghana like driving with license all the time, driving with appropriate boots etc.
    • Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
    • Assist Farmer Services Team in distributing inputs to farmers, loading and unloading products from the car.

    Car Security & Maintenance

    • Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy, secure and in good working condition at all times
    • Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc. and filling out the daily report.
    • Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturers specifications
    • Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, prepare vehicle spare parts inventory
    • Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, at the end of each month
    • Assist the Director of Farmer Services and Talent and Operations Manager to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule
    • Assist in the purchase of new vehicles or other logistical means as required.

    Logbook maintenance

    • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc;
       
    • Organizational Development
      • Participate in the team buildings of Farmerline and contribute to the development and promotion of Farmerline values culture and learning approach as required.
      • Relationship Building & Representation
        • Participate in external workshops, working groups, training and other meetings relevant to Farmerline's safe driving standards.
    • Manage Farmerline's relationship with other drivers/car rental companies ensuring driving standards, passenger safety requirements and driver courtesy and punctuality is achieved.
       

    Working Conditions

    This is a Kumasi based, full-time position with regular and extensive travel to Farmerline's operational communities in Ghana (maximum 80% of time for driving).

    Required Qualifications

    • Evidence of no criminal or driving offence record from the police.
    • Ability to speak and write English.
    • Ability to drive over long distances and long hours.
    • Ability to communicate field activities coherently and constructively.
    • High Enumerative Skills.
    • Diligent, dedicated and reliable.
    • Alertness to events and trends around his environment.
    • Articulate and smart.
    • A real team player and time conscious person.

    Benefits And Compensation

    • Must possess a valid Ghanaian Driving Licence Class A to C
    • Must possess a minimum of O' Level or SSCE Certificate
    • Has between 4-5 years of experience in driving, particularly in remote locations
    • Clear understanding of transportation law
