    Foreign Service National Investigator

    Duties

    • Under the supervision of Senior FSN-I, the incumbent serves as a Foreign Service National Investigator (FSN-I) on Ghana drug-related laws and investigations by providing investigative support to all US Government law enforcement agencies through the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Office. She/he provides assistance to Country Attaché, Special Agents, Analyst, and Senior FSN-I in conducting criminal investigations related to narcotics and other transnational crime. The FSN-I will assist with vehicle maintenance, driving DEA staff, and assisting with DEA meeting with Ghanaian counterparts.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:

    • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of progressive experience in police/criminal intelligence work or equivalent amount of time in an investigative or intelligence gathering position in drug law enforcement and emerging investigative techniques and law enforcement regulations is required.
    • JOB KNOWLEDGE: This position requires the knowledge of host country laws pertaining to drug law enforcement, and extraditions; knowledge of complex investigative techniques and a good knowledge of surrounding countries is required,

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Law, Sociology/Social Science, International relations, or Public Administration is required.

    Evaluations:

    • LANGUAGE: Fluency in English Reading/Writing/Speaking and French (Fluent IV) written and spoken is required. ( This may be tested)
    • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires excellent computer skills, interpersonal skills, and communication abilities. Must have knowledge of legal proceedings, investigative techniques, surveillance techniques and ability to use security equipment, perform data analysis, and evidence gathering. Must have organizational skills and analytical skills, customer service skills, must possess at least driver license grade “B”.

    • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Accra, Ghana may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
    • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
    • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
