You will be the senior leader and representative for Taptap Send’s Africa business, including full P&L ownership.
This combines both expansion – negotiating and opening Taptap Send in new markets and growing our existing business across Africa, while leading senior relationships with regulators, central banks, telcos, banks, and other significant pan-African players.
With overall responsibility for growing existing markets and launching new ones, you will manage a team of regional heads (currently divided into Francophone West Africa, Francophone Central Africa, and Anglophone Africa), who oversee a network of Country managers, Growth managers, Business
Development managers, and Launchers, distributed across both sender and receiver-side markets (representing a team of over 30, in over ten countries, and growing fast).
You will have deep experience of working in Africa and with the African diaspora, with knowledge of French and preferably at least one other relevant language.
You will be willing to travel regularly and solve issues face to face.
You are obsessive about product details, and can negotiate good deals that benefit our customers.
You are a relentless networker, and can maintain strong relationships across multiple geographies and timezones.
You are able to recruit and motivate a high-performing team, setting clear goals, and raising the bar with each new person hired.
You will have a track record of hiring senior management to work in your team.
Responsibilities
Own the P&L for Taptap Send’s Africa remittance business
Launch new countries for Taptap Send’s remittance network and build positive relationships with the best partners in target countries
Be the face of Taptap Send to new and existing financial institutions and regulatory partners, overseeing the process from first scoping meetings to launch
Work cross-functionally to ensure Taptap Send has the best product offering in-market
Negotiate the best possible terms with our partners in each country
Continue to spot new opportunities to improve our product offering in existing markets
Be aware of market disruptions that can present opportunities for innovative products
Understand local FX dynamics and be able to create a network for sourcing FX
Hold payout partners accountable for their performance, and drive continuous improvement
Lead and build a high-performing senior team, and work cross-functionally within the company to achieve your goals
Extensively travel to markets to gain a deeper understanding
Stay close to our customers as we develop new products and channels
Report upwards to senior management and board level, with ability to articulate and control key levers of the business.
