    ICT Officer

    Job Description

    Applications are invited from qualified candidates to take up positions in the under-listed disciplines in the College:

    The candidate shall:

    • Provide all College stakeholders with front-line, accessible, responsive, effective and appropriate ICT support;
    • Supervise the construction and maintenance of the Colleges ICT operational model and overseeing ICT network and internet operations;
    • Make detailed plans to accomplish ICT management and technical goals;
    • Organize and supervising subordinate ICT related staff;
    • Supervise the installation and upgrading of hardware and software, programming and systems design, development of computer networks, implementation of internet and intranet sites; and
    • Train of ICT-related staff.
    • Receive and check deliveries and associated delivery notes, notifying the appropriate person of any discrepancies.
    • Maintain excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the College.
    • Provide efficient and timely responses to requests made to the ICT Service Desk and ensure end users are kept up-to-date with the progress of requests/support calls.
    • Perform all duties in accordance with College policies, procedures and regulations, to actively raise awareness/promote Quality Assurance, Financial Regulations, Data Protection, etc. in the workplace and in service delivery, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.

    Salary and Conditions attached to the above positions are attractive and in accordance with the approved Harmonised Conditions of Service for Colleges of Education.

    Required Skills or Experience

    The Person

    The candidate must:

    • Have good communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deal with a number of conflicting priorities.
    • Possess a degree in Computer Science, IT or related area from a recognized institution; a Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, IT or related area will be an added advantage.
    • Possess Current Microsoft and Cisco Networking Certifications or related certifications.
    • Have the ability to diagnose and resolve 1st line IT issues with strong fault diagnosis and troubleshooting skills with logical and pragmatic thought processes.
    • Have operational knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
    • Have a working knowledge of networking, storage and cloud technologies.           
    • Have the ability to deal with a wide range of staff and students.
    • He/she must have served in a similar positon or a senior position in a tertiary institution or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for not less than five (5) years.
