    Industrial Relations Superintendent

    • The purpose of this role is to lead strategic and operational industrial and employee relations advice across the company to enable it to achieve its future goals while ensuring that it meets its legislative and Collective Agreement obligations.
    • This position works with and advises key stakeholders including all levels of leadership and supporting members of the Human Resources team to have a positive effect on risk prevention and industrial security.

    BROAD ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Investigate and provide expert authoritative advice, consultancy and case management on complex workplace relations issues, including restructuring and employment frameworks
    • Interpret legislative and industrial agreement issues and law to inform long term industrial strategy
    • Research, review and critically assess industrial instruments in the mining sector for best practice options and actively liaise with senior leaders to develop proposals for recommendation
    • Lead negotiations and support the bargaining team during negotiations for new agreements
    • Coach team members and the wider People Operations department in complex employee relations maters to build greater capability to deliver short- and long-term desired outcomes
    • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the team and continuously review quality benchmarks of case management to ensure that professional advice, consultancy and service is provided to internal clients
    • Collaborate with the People Operations leadership team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop and review people-policies, programs or strategies, and ensure current people-policies remain effective and up to date
    • Represent the company in industrial tribunals, commissions, sector groups, and negotiations
    • Structure internal consultation and negotiation strategies, follow through to gain approval, and oversee processes throughout implementation
    • Use your best endeavours to do such activities as directed by your supervisor to improve the business leveraging all of your skills and experience

    SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

    • 10+ years’ experience incorporating:
    • The breadth of Human Resources operations
    • Workplace relations including senior union engagement
    • Strategic Employee/Industrial Relations
    • Knowledge of Ghanaian Labour Act, associated legislation and labour commission processes and practices
