    Legal Counsel

     A person seeking appointment as a Legal Counsel must be an individual who understands the university environment and the management of higher education in Ghana as well as higher education laws and national policies

    Specific roles

    •  Head of the Legal Department of the Institute
    •  Serve as a the Chief legal adviser of the institute
    •  Act for the institute on all legal matters
    •  Vet and review all agreements and contracts of the institute
    •  Draft, review and interpret all agreements involving or concerning the institute
    •  Ensure that the institute complies with all national legislayion and regulations on higher education
    •  Liaise with external solicitors where required
    •  Assist in the conduct of all disciplinary processes in the institute
    •  Attend committee and other meetings as designated
    •  Represent or ensure appropriate representation in all dispute resolution proceedings
    •  Conduct all external relations that have legal implications on behalf of the institute
    •  Discharge any other assignments that shall be deemed necessary for the legal department to perform

    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  Must possess a minimum of LLM from a recognized University
    •  Be at least 8 years at the BAR and a member of the Ghana Bar Association
    •  Have a minimum of 5 years working experience. (Experience in a higher education environment will be an added advantage)
    •  Have strong administrative and managerial competence
    •  Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    •  Be computer literate
