    Legal Counsel

    Job Summary:

    • Advise on, and ensure adherence to, legislation applicable to the businesses supported in the Region.
    • Prepare presentations on various legal topics.
    • Input into corporate and commercial transactions.

    Contract Management

    • Actively manage litigation arising in the Region.
    • Manage and liaise with external parties (including outside attorneys) on behalf of the Region.
    • Conduct training on new pieces of legislation applicable to the Region.
    • Provide legal guidance on the structure of proposed services.
    • Draft, review and amend terms and conditions for various services required by the Region.
    • Assist with resolution of customer queries referred to the legal department.
    • Implement and manage the Legal Compliance Programme for the Region (including preparation of the Risk Registers.
    • Prepare reports in respect of the status of contract, compliance and litigation management.
    • Ensure that proper archiving systems and policies are in place.
    • Coordinate the preparation and publication of newsletters and other communication emanating from regional Legal.
    • Liaise with Corporate Legal in the management and implementation of cross-regional projects.
    • Manage service delivery KPIs of external attorneys.
    • Work closely with the various teams in-country to foster legal compliance and ensure efficient, smooth delivery of legal services within SLAs.

    Education & Experience:

    • Law Degree
    • At least two-year post articles experience
    • Previous experience in the broadcasting and ICT industry would be advantageous
    • Excellent command of the English language written and spoken
    • Kiswahili and French are added advantage
    • Relevant legislation
    • Financial/commercial understanding is an added advantage
    • Excellent IT skills to navigate various systems
