    Meteorologist

    Summary:

    • We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting meteorological data to inform trading decisions, as well as developing and implementing data science techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our weather forecasting capabilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Produce and deliver weather forecasts across LDCs business units by monitoring observations and evaluating weather model guidance
    • Deliver short-term to long-term weather views for use in fundamental analysis techniques to support trading and asset optimization decisions
    • Understand the fundamentals drivers related to agriculture that can be influenced by weather inputs
    • Develop and improve weather-derived models to be used as inputs for price modeling
    • Generate timely and informative weather impact alerts during active hazardous weather events around the world
    • Monitor and back-test weather forecasts from internal and external providers
    • Quality control the integrity of forecast products and isolate and resolve issues impacting forecast product creation or distribution
    • Work closely with short and mid-term agri-commodity analysts in market view development
    • Develop an industry understanding of the impact of weather forecasts on LDC commercial operations
    • Develop new products and tools to improve trading-making decisions

    Experience:

    • Excellent knowledge of the global weather models
    • Very strong numerical and analytical skills
    • Knowledge of weather regimes in Europe, climate drivers, and their implications on the weather forecast
    • Excellent data science skills incl. ability to build models in main languages, such as Python, experience interfacing with databases (SQL)
    • Ability to use, modify, deploy weather models or statistical models (MOS)
    • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and oral

    Required Languages:

    • English (Fluent)
