    MTC Teacher

    Job Description

    • To train missionaries to achieve their missionary purpose. The Missionary Department expects that all missionaries receive training prior to entering the mission field. MTC teachers are recently returned missionaries who guide missionaries through their training by effectively teaching, demonstrating, and helping missionaries practice principles from Preach My Gospel. Some MTC teachers are also expected to help missionaries learn a foreign language.

    Responsibilities

    • The candidate shall provide instruction, direction, counsel, feedback, and training using Preach my Gospel and the approved curriculum by demonstrating understanding of and loyalty to the approved training model of explain, demonstrate, practice, evaluate, and re-practice, and directing missionaries in planning and accounting for their learning
    • The candidate shall develop and maintain an appropriate relationship with missionaries based on love, respect, and courtesy by discovering and responding to missionaries' needs; and strengthen missionaries' faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
    • He /She shall also be responsible and accountable for missionary progress and may teach language (only applies to some teachers at specific MTCs)
    • The candidate shall dedicate time to plan and prepare to instruct missionaries, attend and actively participate in regular in-service training and monthly video conference training with Church Headquarters' personnel, implement direction and training from manager of training and the International MTC administrative staff, receive and implement feedback from manager of training following regular classroom observation, Assist in MTC administrative tasks and measure progress based on missionary progress and evaluations and, manager observations and evaluations

    Qualifications

    • Has served a full-time mission and returned successfully and honorably within 24 months of applying.
    • Be fluent in written and spoken English
    • Be fluent in the mission language the teacher is hired to teach or hired to teach in (only applies to some teachers at specific MTCs).
    • Understands, can demonstrate, and is committed to the content of Preach My Gospel and approved principles of missionary work.
    • Exemplifies missionary standards in dress, grooming, and behavior. interact effectively with priesthood leaders, parents, and students and other customers
    • Basic word processing skills and fluency in an applicable second language are desirable qualities but are not required.
    • Be available throughout the week for daytime or evening shifts, including Saturdays and averaging 20-24 hours a week
