    Programme Officer

    About the role of Programme Officer

    • The Programme Officer supports the following areas, examples are not exhaustive:
    • Within programme management the role supports the development, design, budget, monitoring and evaluation for all in country projects; supporting advocacy plans, advocating for Sightsavers within forums and across stakeholders; assisting in identifying new strategic partnerships.
    • Within project management the role ensures all aspects of the projects are effectively monitored and evaluated, adaptive learning applied; partner capacity building developed; technical advice provided to partners and internally to teams; reporting internally and externally
    • Financial management requires monitoring project budgets and expenditure; collaboration with the finance team; partner financial capacity building.
    • Communication management through developing networks where Sightsavers can lead on or develop strategies; proactively providing quality case studies and news stories

    Knowledge, skills and experience for Programme Officer

    Essential:

    • Proven similar work experience within programme management ideally within an international NGO environment
    • Project management skills especially in the areas of practical implementation of programme policies and approaches, budget development, report writing and monitoring and evaluation
    • Previous advocacy experience within an INGO
    • Influential
    • Line management, team management and mentoring skills
    • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
    • Current and ongoing right to work in Ghana
    • Available to travel within programme country
    • Fluent written and spoken English

    Desirable:

    • Master’s degree or equivalent degree in Public Health, International Development, social science/ equivalent qualificationor a tertiary degree with proven work experience
