The Project Finance Controller will work directly with the Project Management team to effectively run and analyse reports related to various aspects of a project.
The Responsibilities
Maintain records and ledgers for all financial transactions of the project
Prepare budgets for Project and development activities and analyze variance versus actuals
Prepare a detailed WBS to capture on time and accurately all project related costs
Prepare cash flow reports in coordination with individual project managers, and heads of departments for preparing updated forecasts
Prepare the expenses incurred report/commitment report and rolling forecast
Cash management of the project, and accurate cash flow forecasting Assist in implementing the accounting system for the project, in coordination of the group accounting system implementation
Prepare policies and procedures for the project in coordination with the group policies and procedures
Assist in hiring and leading the finance team of the project
Ensured that all invoices paid are verified and match with contract/SLA and executed as per the internal procedures and DOA in place
Prepare cash calls every week for project with the list of Vendors to be paid
Coordinate with Treasury and local Banks for cash drawdown for project
Allocate insurance cost and interest on project asset
Supervise advances and Vendor’s reconciliation
Ensure that Bank Guarantee is well maintained/followed and closed or renewed on expiration date
Identify project assets in use for the development phase and depreciate them (HME, Trucks, LV)
Conduct monthly meetings with Project/Operation team to ensure a smooth integration of project transactions into the entity’s Financials
The Requirements
MBA in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or Business Law
Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA
Minimum of 15-20 years of hands-on experience in project accounting & controlling, budgetary control, cost
management, preparation of MIS
Sound understanding of corporate finance and accounts with a global mindset & strong quantitative and conceptual abilities with strong knowledge of IFRS
Strong budgeting and costing ability for project control and expertise in Management Accounting and MIS
Mining and previous expat experience is essential
Must have handled large size projects and must have worked in a large cap listed company
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Experience with creating financial statements
Ability to motivate and lead teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
