    Safeguarding and ESG Intervention Manager

    Project Overview And Role

    The JET programme is supporting the industrialisation and economic diversification drive of the Government of Ghana (GoG) to sustain the high-growth equilibrium required to reduce poverty, end aid-dependency and combat climate change. With its specific aim to increase trade and investment flows between the UK and Ghana, the programme is a catalyst for a new strategic partnership between the two countries. Pharmaceuticals, Automotive and Textiles & Garments have been selected as the ‘anchor’ sectors within the JET programme, taking into consideration the potential quantity of investment as well as its quality and likely impact on economic development – particularly the likely spill-over effects for domestic firms and job creation

    Primary Duties And Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    Towards this end, the Interventional Managers responsibilities will include, but not be limited to

    The core responsibility of the Safeguarding Intervention Manager/Lead will be to support the core team, technical assistants, and partners providing safeguarding and ESG interventions to ensure successful delivery.

    • Support the core team and technical assistants on key deliverables, including:
    • Implementing the ESG/Safeguarding Concept Note
    • Design of safeguarding research,
    • Update Intervention Concept Notes design, etc.
    • Manage, support, and provide quality-assurance and context-proofing to the programme team of the intervention
    • Attend and act as Safeguarding/ESG team PoC during regular team meetings, client meetings, etc.
    • Manage Partnership portfolio
    • Contribute to programme reviews.
    • Support in identification of GESI investment opportunities and integration of GESI in intervention design.
    • Support integration of ESG and Safeguarding monitoring and results management, and support in research or studies as needed.
    • Support in providing ongoing staff & partners’ capacity building on Safeguarding

    Results to be achieved

    • Providing support on GESI Mainstreaming to the core team and partners, and providing support over the following core results:
    • Managing JET safeguarding intervention and economic, social and governance work, including recruitment, reporting, assessments and partnerships
    • Managing the implementation of country and sector-specific Research and technical assistance
    • Providing GESI Mainstreaming support to MEL, programme team and partners.
    • Providing Safeguarding support and recommendations to programme team and partners.
    • Liaising and coordinating with country team on GESI deliverables.

    Job.minimum. Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • In-depth demonstrated knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, ESG, gender issues, mechanisms of construction of gender, gender dynamics in socio-cultural contexts and in private sector environments in Ghana.
    • Demonstrated understanding of private sector development and business knowledge
    • Based in Ghana, preferably Ghanaian
    • Excellent analytical, report writing, technical documentation drafting, conducting field research and research design skills are essential.
    • Proven ability in interacting effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including high-level decision-makers (such as CEOs, high ranking government officials, etc.) and disadvantaged / under-represented groups
    • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
    • At least 5 years professional experience in intervention management and delivery (and/or safeguarding, and/or social protection, or similar), with a focus on gender, in the public or private sector; at least 5 years of experience in international large donor funded projects / programmes
    • Proven experience in developing intervention management and delivery approaches, methodology, strategy and framework design.
    • Proven experience in the mainstreaming of safeguarding/ESG/GESI in project and/or programme Inception Research and Analysis, ToCs, logframes, workplans, and M&E frameworks, especially in private sector development programmes.
    • Proven experience in drafting focused interventions and mainstreaming GESI to donors’ programmes, with a private sector focus.
